Hia all :)
Me and my partner went on a joint income support claim when i was 29 weeks pregnant as was told we could do this till our baby was 15 weeks then would have to swap over to jsa as my partner would be classed as looking for work then for both of us on a joint jsa claim , just wondering if anyone else has done this swapping over on a joint claim to jsa from income support after ur baby is 15 weeks and basically what happens? When did they contact you to let you know about changing back over from jsa ,how old was ur baba roughly when contacted u? and do they send a letter or phonecall or? Thanks all Really would like some advice on this cheers

You need to phone the IS Enquiry line, the tel no will be on your award letter, they'll be able to tell you when your final payment is and what date your claim closes.

It's down to your partner to make the claim, they won't "mollycoddle" and make you submit a claim if that makes sense. Ie if you don't make a claim after your IS ends your claim will still close and there won't be a JSA claim until you make one.

It won't be a joint claim as you have a child, its what's known as a couple claim (your IS claim would've been the same), only one person can claim (main claimant) and the partner is a dependant.

Find out when the IS claim ends and then get your partner to phone the new claims number on that day to make the JSA claim, it'll be a whole new claim not a switch :)
