Hello ladies
Baby boy is now 10 days old and I am just getting around to writing this.
June 9th I had my 40 week appointment. I was 39+5 and my doctor decided to do a stretch and sweep for me since I really had no signs of this boy coming. I was 1.5 cm and 50% effaced. oh and I spent the rest of the day doing some running around and last minute shopping. I didn't really have any aches or pains at all through out the day. Around 8pmvwe decided to go for a walk. Sure enough this was enough to get contractions going. We decided to head to bed around 10 and I hoped and prayed they picked up. Around 12 on June 10 I woke up having contractions every 6 minutes or so. When I got up to pee I noticed my plug was coming away in huge globs also.
By 130 they were 5 minutes apart and lasting about 50 seconds and I was in a lot of pain so we decided to go in. We got to the hospital around 2 am and I was taking straight to an assessment room. There they found I was 2cm and fully effaced but the contractions were irregular. After 2 hours on the monitor they gave me some morphine and gravol to help me sleep and hopefully regulate the painful contraction. They never really regulated but at 730 am I was 3cm so they decided to move me to a birthing room and let me walk and use the bath to try and get things moving better. I tried all of this but to no avail. The contractions were only reading at 20-30 on the toco and they were still all over the place. No more then 5 mins apart but sometimes they were 2 mins apart but then the next wouldn't come for another 5 mins. By 12pm I was crying in pain but felt so silly because they weren't reading as strong. I was checked and was finally at 4pm meaning I could have the epidural if I wanted but it meant having syntosin also. I was also offered more morphine and gravol and a bath but I was in to much pain and opted for the epi.
I got my iv, epi and syntocin around 1pm. I was finally comfortable and able to get some rest. Strongly enough even with the syntocin my contractions never showed as stronger then 30 on the toco monitor. They did however regulate to 2 mins apart lasting a minute.
Around 250 pm June 10th I was laying on my left side when I felt a big pop. I asked the nurse to check and it wasn't my waters but lots of blood. Not to much but still lots. OH was brave and decided he wanted to see lol. He said it looked like I was peeing blood. Eww. The nurse checked and I was 8cm. Within minutes I felt the need to push and sure enough I was 10. My doctor was called and I was set up to push I started pushing around 315 and with my first push my water say started coming out so the doctor got me to stop so he could break it. After that his head came right down and started crowning right away. Everyone kept saying how much hair he had and my doctor offered to let me reach down and feel. It was incredible to feel his little head there waiting to be born completely. It took 3 pushes for his head and then I had a moment to breath. A few minutes later his body started to come on its own. So I gave one small push and got to see him come into this world. He was placed right on my chest and I cried instantly. He was born on June 10th at 3:22pm weighting 8lb 5oz and 21.5 inches long. He got 10 on his 1, 5 and 10 minute apgar. I had two small tears on my Labia and 1 small tear where I previously had an episiotomy. All are pain free now and my bleeding stopped after a week. Doctor figures I just get very strong contractions that are not picked up by the monitor they have. Good thing they were doing internals and checking my tummy during them too or no one would have believed me.
He is 10 days old now and is so calm and content. I could not be more in love with him and his sisters adore him.
I have added a few photos below.
