ok this is our main choice for a middle name for Lucas ATM and Ive noticed on the thread I started and others threads that most prefer the "proper" name of Charles which Im not keen on but my Greatgrandpa was named Charlie (actually Charlie Washington which I thought was a nice different name :) )not charles so that is a reason to use it but even family members have also mentioned its supposed to be charles but I personally like Charlie better so I wanna see how many of you think its best to use the proper name?? but remember its a middle name in this case and wont be used much :) we havent decided to use it just its high on the list!

Usually I would say I prefer Charlie, as in general I do but with it going with Lucas I actually think Lucas Charles flows better than Lucas Charlie, but remember its about what you and your dp like not any one else x

with our last name being Jenkins I thought it would be to many S sounds Lucas Charles Jenkins? do you think? maybe just me  kinda like how Id also love to use Jack but to me to many C&K sounds that I wont use it Jack lucas Jenkins see maybe Im looking into it to much

That does change things, with your surname Lucas Charlie flows better. I really like it, and I also like Jack Lucas Jenkins, and Lucas Jack Jenkins. Not much help am I :dohh: lol

no you are help Im just having so much trouble with this and dont know why with my son my DH wanted Jacob and I said I love Levi and it seemed to go together so well that was his name and we didnt even go through any names to get it now with this one Lucas has been the chosen name from the beginning but we cannot decide what goes best with it :dohh: but after seeing my grandpa light up when my mom said we were considering Charlie (which was his dads name) Im reallly thinking its the one...this will be his second greatgrandbaby (my son being his first and only) and I know he would love it :) and we are going with initials my son has JLJ which is what my DH has so we are thinking this one should have my initials LCJ so that is what goes so if we used Jack it would have to go first and I dont think it flows right for some reason  but when I read Jack as a middle name it sounds good uhh I dont know :dohh:

I vote Charles, technically. But you have to like it, not everyone else! And plus your grandpa's name was Charlie not Charles, so why not keep that up? Although generally I always prefer the "proper" names for birth certificates.

Charlie all the way ! Its just a fab name ! My nephew is charlie too :)

I have a Charlie! and i some times wish i'd called him charles and used charlie as a little nick name for him, but somthing we used all the time but when he got older he would be able to use charles if he wanted too, i call him charles anyway we kinda end up using it as a shorter name for charlie which is unusal since its normaly the other way around but it works for us, as a middle name id say charles definatly!

Isnt Charlie the 'short' version for Charles anyways???

Thats our choice if we had a little boy but it'd be Charles on the birth cert but i would probably call him Charlie by name :)

I say go with whatever you like the best. I prefer Charlie and it's Charlie that's special in your family. I think Lucas Charlie Jenkins is really lovely!

xxx

yes its the short version of charles but I noticed on my thread and others threads that when mentioning using charlie alone instead of charles that most prefered the "proper" name instead for some reason. I personally dont like charles as well as I like charlie dont know why

funny how that works because I noticed that my husbands mom and dad call him Jeremiah alot but his name is Jeremy on his birth certificate so I find that odd really  but I can see having a charlie and calling him charles sometimes but with it being a middle name not sure that it would be used much  then I think about how I call my son Jacob Levi all the time instead of just Jacob :dohh:

Lucas Charles sound better IMO.

I'm also a fan of not using nicknames as 'proper' names.

thanks to everyone who replied :) me and DH have discussed this and he is so impatient and says we have to have a name picked now so we both really like Charlie and for a middle name I dont think its to important for it to be proper and I also want to honor my greatgrandpa with using his name.

so its official we are calling him Lucas Charlie Jenkins :)

unless we decide to change it at the last minute :dohh:
