Ok well I am excited to say that today is the second time this year that the :witch: has shown up on her own with our Provera!! So I guess that means that the Metformin is doing its job and leveling out my insulin levels!!

So I guess now I can start charting just to get a feel for when I may ovulate.
how long after your period should you start using the OV tests?

Hi NickysDestiny,

It depends on how long your cycle is. Most of the store brands will give you a schedule. My cycle is usually 29 days, so I start testing on day 12.

Wait, I still have some - I'll find the chart for you...

21 days or less start testing on cd5
22 days = cd5
23 days = cd 6
24 days = cd7
25 days - cd8
26 days = cd9
27 days = cd10
28 days = cd11
29 days = cd 12

Same pattern up to 40 days. If longer than 40 days start testing on cd17

(I got this from the insert in my clearblue ovulation test strips)

I would also check my CM, and as soon as I saw a whiff of EWCM I would test. Sometimes that was earlier than cd12 for me. I'm also a worrier about missing it, so I usually started on cd 11. I never got a positive on cd 11 though - so that was just me worrying.

I also missed my ovulation using these tests on two cycles. So they are not always accurate. Make sure you watch your other ovulation signs too.

I hope this helps!

Go with your shortest cycle length when deciding.

thanks. It looks like I have a 40-50 day cycle since Jan. maybe I'll just start the day my period ends and test every day just in case

I would have found that onerous. You have to have concentrated urine, and it needs to be in the afternoon (not FMU) so for me, that meant testing at work. Ughhh...

I also didn't use internet cheapies, so it was expensive every month too.

(Doing IVF this cycle, so not testing this cycle)

But, certainly - if you test every day you won't miss it for sure!

Good luck.
