iv seen a couple of posts like this on third tri..
just wondering what you think about it?
would you try checking your own if you knew what you was looking for?x

I can see why someone would do it, but personally I'd leave it to the professionals :haha:
Wouldn't like the thought of somehow possibly damaging something too x

I did. :)
I squatted down as low as I could, leaned on a wall and pushed my pelvis forward. Then you should be able to reach it.
It's like a circle. You know where it is if you can go any further back.
I knew I was 3cm dilated before the midwife did because if you can fit your index and pointer in there, that's 3cm.
But I wouldn't do it if you're not trained. I am an RN, so I knew *exactly* how to do this without causing any damage. Plus I was able to kind of give myself a sweep. Kind of difficult since it was really high up though.
Talk to your midwife before you try this though. You might have something wrong with your cervix and it could irritate it or cause infection.
:flower: xx

i tried it, but my fingers were too short! it felt really soft and circle shaped, but my fingers were just that little bit to short to see if i was dialated or not lol xx

ahh so tempting to try but i dont wanna do anything wrong and hardly know where im feeling to feel if anything is happening..and my fingers are long so i think id be able to reach aswell lol so wanna do it now!!
do you think midwife would on tuesday at my appointment if i asked her?x

just make sure your hands are really super clean as well as scraping any material from beneath your fingernails. last thing you want is an infection!

my midwife told me that from the entrance to your vagina up to your cervix is an 'L' shape....it will stay like this until it tilts forward ready to give birth....i cant imagine anyone being able to reach their cervix on their own unless it had tilted right forward xx
