Chemical pregnancies - safe to manage at home?

I've not posted in this bit before and I'm very aware that my losses are extremely early compared to some in here so apologies if this is insensitive. Today I started having my third chemical pregnancy - loss at 4 weeks. Last month when I had one a friend said I should get checked at EPU to check it's all come away properly otherwise it could affect my fertility. Is this right? I feel like I would look silly saying I need to be seen for a miscarriage at 4 weeks.

I personally would just stay at home. Honestly, I had a miscarriage much later on (11 weeks), but as far as I know if you aren't having any problems down the line, there's no reason to be seen for a check up after. I had a d&c because things didn't happen normally on their own, but I didn't see or speak to anyone for a follow up after I was discharged from the hospital, just carried on until the bleeding stopped and my cycles picked up after. Usually if there is any problem, it would be obvious (you would feel unwell, obvious signs of infection, heavy bleeding, pain, etc.). I did have a period of heavy bleeding and pain a week later, like really heavy bleeding, but it cleared up in an afternoon and even then I didn't see anyway. That sort of thing is unlikely with a chemical anyway as realistically there is very little that your body needs to expel and it should be like a normal period. Sorry for your loss and hopefully all goes smoothly. I wouldn't want to sit through an EPU appointment unless I had to, so hopefully means you can just stay at home.

Thank you. I'm glad to hear that, I really don't want to go to the EPU, and it feels right to stay at home. It's interesting, I would have thought it would be like a normal period, but it's so painful.

I'm sorry for your loss

For my early losses, I just stayed home. The nurse for my doctor's office said that if there was really heavy bleeding (filling a pad in an hour) or severe pain or dizziness then go to the emergency room. But otherwise, just rest and drink plenty of fluids. I'm getting my hcg levels checked again to make sure they go back to zero, but other than that I'm much more comfortable staying home unless there's an obvious problem. I've stayed home for all my losses and have only gotten an hcg recheck done once before this time - it's the only 2 pregnacies I made it to the doctor for before they ended.
