We're meant to be going to a christening today, but the baby being christened has chicken pox. I'm worried about DS2 catching it, he's only 6 months. Would you risk it? Obviously we'd keep him away from the baby in question but I'm not sure that would be enough.

Chicken pox is passed on by direct contact of blisters, saliva or mucus of the infected person according to NHS website. If the spots have scabbed over now then you'll be fine as the virus isn't contagious any more, however if they are still coming out in new spots I wouldn't go as there is a chance your LO could get it.

However my guy was exposed to the virus 3 times before he finally caught it!

It's also airborne

IF your baby is otherwise well it would possibly be best to expose them to it at this young age. ive always been told itsmuch easier handled when they are younger as they are less likely to scratch the spots.

if your really against baby getting them then yes i would stay away as its Extremely contagious until all of the spots are crusted over. My ds1 has been shut inside for a week as hes had chicken pox, he started last wednesday and the last spot crusted over yesterday so he finally got to go out of the house today.

7-21 day incubation period so have to wait and see if ds2/3 will catch them (2 years/4 months) x
