Child Benefit - How long?

How long does it take for Child Benefit to kick in?

I sent the forms when Earl was 4 weeks old (Last Monday). I got his birth certificate back Yesterday so they obviously got my form.

Will I get a letter (like HIP grant was) or will it just start appearing?

Mine appeared in my bank before I got the award letter, took just under 2 weeks. Keep an eye on your bank balance

It can take up to 12 weeks. If they ask for further information, they can take up to another 12 weeks on top of that. I started receiving child benefit 2 weeks ago and LO is 7 1/2 months old!

It can take a while. The money just appeared in my bank just after I got the birth certificate back, then received a letter about backpay and monthly payments.

Got a payment of 3 weeks worth in today.

Can I expect another 4 weeks worth when he's 7 weeks? or 4 weeks from today? Confuzzled

Earl's CHB is going straight into savings but I just want to know when to expect it son it's not swallowed up.
