So my mother told me I need to take Child Birthing classes
but the thing is I dont want to take them.
What is the need to?
Nothing will prepare you for giving birth.
Another thing is the FOB cant make is cause of moving into college today and with football.
I dont want to do the classes without him.
But are they honestly neccesary?

some people find them useless and other people really usefull, i'd definately suggest going for them, especially if u don't need to pay for them. you find out info about pain relief available at your hospital, what the procedures are for when u go into hospital and things, and things like different positions 4 labour etc :)

i never did them tbh. its personal choice so totaly upto you and don't be bullied into it by MW.

i have to pay for them,
but i never wanted to take them.
cant you learn what they teach you just off the computer.
it wont ever fully prepare you labor.

im not sure what they do at birthing classes as never been but someone i know went and its al basic stuff like breathing while in labour, breast feeding, basic baby care (i.e nappy change etc) but i dunno if thats different where you are from

im from the united states
they just go over labor, breathing, show us videos,

I never took them i didnt feel the need to take them and i gave birth just fine I went with the flow of things and all the classes really teach you is breathing and calming and how to know when you need to go to the hospital. I learned more from reading my pregnancy for dummys lol

thats exactly what i thought.
now i just gotta tell my mom that i dont wanna take them.
any ideas?

tell her its a waste of money an with that money the classes would have cost you could have brought bubba something.......

a dnt really know what else tbh as i left home at 16 and arnt very close to my mum so i never really get into these situations

i prolly will.
im gonna talk to my aunt tonight which im really close with
maybe she will know what to do.

I doubt they are needed as you if like me will forget everything. FOB and I agreed to do an intense course which is offered by our hospital. It is all day Saturday (next for us :)) and will prepare us for everything that will happen as well as all the other stuff which I kinda not to sure what that is...

I was wondering about this as well. My mom said she went to a few classes and didn't like them. I doubt i'll be going to any. I'd rather have something to focus on when the time comes than to know everything thats going to happen.

I only did the Parent Craft classes, everything they spoke about I pretty much already knew.
The only thing I am not sure about is breathing etc, but I hope my body will know what to do with itself.
You can never really prepare as you can't say how it will turn out & everything you have learnt might just go out the wndow!
I personally don't see the need, especially if you have to pay - But it is your decision x

i personally and honestly dont want to or need to go to them
i went to a very short class and a parenting class
and they didnt teach me anything i didnt kno

Never took one and wont waste my money.

Alrighty thanks girls. Oh might not stay at the college. Might change to a college 15 mins away

My grandmother really wanted us to take one, but I didn't want to since I'm on here all the time. So I got a bunch of books on the Bradley Method which practices basically how I want my birth to go. I feel confident for the most part, like you said I really don't think there's much you can do to really prepare as your body does whatever it wants :p
