I have an 11 yr old son from a previous relationship. He has never met his dad and for the first 8 years of his life I brought him up as a single parent.

His biological father has never given me a penny whilst bringing him up. When attending a solicitors meeting when DS was a baby (he wanted access to see DS but I refused as he was a drug addict- long story!) he offered to pay me £5 a week but I refused as he would have wanted to see him in return... plus what the hell would £5 get him?? Not even a pack of nappies or baby milk!

Anyway, 8 years passed, and after encouragement from friends and family, I decided that he SHOULD start paying for his son and contacted the CSA. At first they couldn't find him as he had no fixed abode (scum that he is) and no job. The only way they could find him was through benefits. Several months passed before I finally had a letter from the CSA saying they had found him and stated that would start paying me £5 a week out of his benefits!! £5?? Seriously, what the hell am I supposed to do with that?!

I know of people getting over £100 a month... possibly a week. So WHY shouldn't he pay this? I was told that if he did go into employment, payments would stop. Surely he should pay MORE if he's in a job??

I just wondrered if anyone else receives maintenence payments for thir children and could offer me any advice as I don't think it's fair.

£5 is a joke but that's all you get if they are out of work

Once he moves into employment I think they mean payments will stop for a few weeks whilst they sort it out not for good. I get £25 a week from my daughters dad and that's on him working part time hours minimum wage!

My payments have been stopping and starting over the past 3 years... whether or not this is because he is in work, and then back on benefits. But I never get anything in between

I no how you feel in away my son 15months old and I been fighting the csa because first myex was on benifits an only paying me 2.50 a wk for his son and now he in a full time job I'm still only getting 2.50 a wk for my son I think its a joke.iv been getting 2.50 a wk since my son was 6 months old and I said to the csa what can u get for 2.50 and I said the same to his father NOTHING! I said to my ex why don't you just pay me in cash and don't bother with the csa an he wouldnt do that because he don't trust me so he draged me all trough the courts cause I said if you don't pay you don't see so I went to court an in the mean time of going to court he called soical services on me and my bro kids but everything was ok and now he only sees him onces a wk for fours hrs and I'm still fighting him and the csa,now I wish never made that first phone call to the csa because there just a waist of time and it makes me angry and laugth in away because the fathers out are willing to shout and scream when they want to see there kids but they won't pay for them. Its all one big joke to most pepole I say.

£5 because he's on benifits i know joke isnt it thats what my kids dad sould be paying (For two children) but the CSA are so rubbish my payments stopped in march & i they still havnt sorted it out after phone calls!

Thats exactly how I feel... took me ages to get 2 lump sum payments and then he quit his job and isn't claiming benefits as his doing cash in hand jobs apparently.. I got a letter saying I'm entitled to £0 a week as he earns less then £5 a week.. who the hell could survive on that. Its a joke. CSA are a joke. & these 'fathers' that want to see their child but not pay for them are the biggest joke. I say we all get together and campaign something. I'm sure fathers would cough up if it meant they didn't see their child.. 1s that care anyway! Something needs to be done about these waste of spaces. x

I've got to say, I think i'm one of the lucky ones when it comes to the CSA. I've never had any problems. When I first called them I gave them as much info as possible on Mayas dad & within 12 weeks I had recieved my back pay & started to get regular payments. I have since been receiving £100 every 4 weeks like clockwork from him. I think though it's alot easier when the absent father is co-operative

I havnt ever seen a penny, I got told that he earns Nothing so should pay Nil. !!!! He is earning good money, been at the same job for 6+years, and pays for another child and his gf, rent bills etc, yet cant even co-operate for his first child

They are wanks. Whats his excuse for earning Nil? I know its gonna be hard hun but u need to fight them.... & also report him to tax fraud as something obviously isn't right! You need proof and they'll get u this. Apparently FOB's can go to prison now for obviously working and deliberately not paying for so long. What a wanker. I've got the same.. His apparently earning £0 a week.. and isn't claiming benefits... eeeeeerrr how thick are CSA!!

They say they cant trace him?! Even although they have called and spoken to his employer before.... Might give the tax man a ring. Ive been fighting CSA for ages and they said the other day its gonna stay at Nil unless i can get more evidence

WHAT... I know it sucks to keep fighting them but it's gotta be done, and I've been looking stuff up and people have said take the names down of everyone you speak to and put everything in writing to the CSA as well.

The other option is getting your camera and following him and getting photographic evidence!

Its ridiculous.. what proof are u supposed to get, that should be CSA's job!!

Well considering he lives at the other end of the UK, Its impossible I've given them all i know, company name etc, Going to have to do more digging somehow :/ Its a total joke. These men should be held more accountable!

£5 a week is better than a kick in the teeth, and when you add it to the other monies (CB and CT) received for the LOs it all adds up really. I really dont understand the csa sometimes, I know some dads get literally robbed and its totally unfair, then others get away scott free My friend used to complain because she was only getting £750 a month??!! wtf??!! lol (for 2 kids). Ive personally never made a claim, though I know if I ever did he'll be down on paper earning '£0' and no benefits lol Funny how he has a mortgage and family and yet according to the system lives on fresh air lol

Well its cofirmed on friday my agreement is staying at Nil. Apparently he earns zero. Bullshit!

oh dear, i hope that when i go to csa tomorrow that they actually help me. my ex works in my grandads company so i hope that he doesnt fire him as i need the csa money. unfortionately our relationship broke down and i decided to leave him a week ago. he hasnt mentioned anything about child support to me, and when ive asked him about it he just shrugged his shoulders, so i think i will have to go through csa to get any support off him. his 1st daughter gets 37pound a week, plus the arrears from when he started work in aug last year so atm he is paying out 100pounds a week, but i cant wait till he has paid off his arrears cuz i know that lily is the one that is going to suffer. i can just about afford my rent and bills to keep a roof over our head, i dont know what ill do if csa screw me over
