My son's father receives an ssi check every month. I have read that if someone receives ssi they do not pay child support. He's allowed to work part time though and is working. So because he is working would he have to pay child support?

I presume SSI is some sort of benefit because he is on low income or working part time?

I don't know about US but in UK they still have to pay if they are on benefits it's just a really small amount (my FOB has to pay £7.10 per week as he is on a type of benefit for jobseekers).

I would of thought if he is working (even part time) then he could contribute something towards child support?

SSI is usually only awarded if a person has a disability that hinders his/her ability to work. It is not given for low income alone.

I know you cannot collect CS on his SSI check, but you might be able to collect CS on his part-time wages. You might also be able to qualify your own children for SSI since their father is on it.
