Was having a little nosey on hmrc and the proposed changes for income thresholds for 2012, they are quite worrying, if you have 1 child and an income over 26k you get nothing, and 2 children over £32k nothing, these are really drastic cuts from £41k and £50k before that, it does say certain circs etc you may still get them ie paying childcare, which we will be at £650 per month so was really hoping we'd get something towards it !!! They're are really not helping working mums and low income familys are going to struggle immensely :(

Yep agreed! Our CTC got stopped earlier this year because we supposedly earn too much...can't afford to cover all our bills so not sure how they figure that

I'd be better off not working and am seriously considering it though think I'd go bonkers being a SAHM...!

ahhh its so annoying isnt it that you'd be better off not working !!! Im not sure whether we would or not as we have mortgage, whereas if rented you get hb aswell, but i want to work as i have a good job and once lo it at school and we're not paying childcare we should be OK off

What are the income thresholds?

I am debating going back two or three days, but three days may take us over the tax credit threshold!

Im going to register as a childminder in time for the end of my maternity leave coz otherwise we couldn't afford for me to go to work.

Couldn't afford for me to go to work - what a stupid sentence!

xx

Another great policy from our 'family friendly' government.

It sucks. We earn approx 31k at mo and get £545 per year with 1 child. I read from april 2012 this will go down to £37 per year (I am going back less hours so will be on approx £26.5k joint. It would cost more to pay their worker to process probably!

Does anyone know how I can get an idea what childcare fees they will pay from april 2012? Based on what we earn at the mo we would get I think approx £200ish a month and I am hoping this will be the same as having to pay some fees anyway in june when I go back we will be left with about £100 after bills etc but if they wont pay as much I cant afford to work or not to work so will be screwed!!!

Our childcare fees have just gone up £10 a week to £160! So don't expect it to be any less than this in April!
