Hiya
Okay so am v.confused by CTC!! On mine and hubbys P60 for 2010-2011 mine was £15235 & hubbys was £16532. These are the figures I give HMRC. Our lo was born in oct and our award notice was for £45 per month til 5th april based on the figures above. Which was fine. I did call them to let them know I would be on maternity leave for 29 weeks of year 2011-2012 but they didnt seem bothered and it didnt make a change to our award notice which was fine.
Now the confusing bit. My P60 for 2011-2012 will be approx £11344 (which includes my SMP) but do they then still take off £100 pw for each week I am on maternity which for 2011-2012 (before end of tax year) would be 29 weeks which is £2900 and would mean my actual income for 2011-2012 down to approx £8444 plus hubbys of I would say MAX £17k I have put into tax calculator and it says for april 2012 to april 2013 we will be entitled to £104.91 total.
BUT another confusing bit is when I go back to work 3rd week in june I will be on reduced hours. So new salary will be £10586 pa (obviously less for 2012-2013) as I wont be going back til mid june so for now til june I will be on smp still for another 10 weeks. SO for 2012-2013 my salary will end up being approx £9837, take off 10 weeks smp @ £100 = £8837.
I am very confused if they owe me anything for 2011-12 when I was on SMP as my salary wont be what they estimated from my last p60 I actually earnt less and also will they back pay if they owe me anything (they said on the phone they would). Also when I go back on reduced hours and taking into account my smp will I again be entitled to anything? We will originally earn over the 26k (by about 500) on a normal year and my reduced hours but as I am on maternity leave and obviously wont be earning a full salary 2012-2013 will all this be considered or will they just pay me back lump sums if owed come the following tax year?!! Sooooooo confused.
