Choroid Plexus Cyst

So doc called today and the first thing she said was not to worry but my little guy has 2 CP Cysts on his brain which can be harmless on their own but can also be a soft marker for Downs Syndrome. My Panorama tests came back low risk for everything. She spoke with another doc and they are going to scan me again at a different office with more advanced equipment. She kept telling me not to worry and that most likely everything is fine, but I am freaking out! If she's so sure all is well, why do I need to go see a specialist? Does anyone have any success stories about this condition? Also, prayers and positive thoughts are greatly appreciated. My next scan is tomorrow morning.

Hi! It's hard but try not to stress...too much My DD also had the cyst on her brain at my 20 week ultrasound. For some reason I was not worried, mothers intuition? I'm not sure but I was 36 so my risk was higher for DS. Dr. said it was a soft marker but from my blood work and integrated scan it will most likely go away. It was the only marker. I was scheduled for an ultrasound at 28 weeks b/c that's when they most likely resolve themselves and sure enough it was gone! She is almost 2 and a brilliant little girl. Positive thoughts for you tomorrow. They may just want to get a clearer look with better equipment.

My dd had this also. Found at 20 week scan and gone by 28 week scan. If all your other tests were negative, i wouldnt worry about it. In fact, my doc said there was no need for another scan at 28 weeks, but like u i was nervous and requested one to be sure.

Thanks for your replies ladies. It's great to hear that you had good outcomes. I'm hoping I get some good news as well tomorrow. We've just had such a rough road getting to this point in the pregnancy. We've gone through a miscarriage, infertility, surgery, TTC for 3 years, spotting off and on, and now this. Pregnancy is stressful!!

UPDATE: Everything looked great on the scan today!! He has a bright spot on his heart and 2 cysts on his brain but they are all a part of normal development and will most likely go away by 3rd Tri. Thanks for sharing your stories, positive thoughts, and prayers. Maybe I'll get some sleep tonight. 😊

Yay, that's great to hear. There will always be something to worry about but try to take everything in stride and enjoy your pregnancy. Are you going to have another US to see if they have gone away?

Thanks PurpleIvy! That is good advice that I will try my best to follow. I'm sure my original doc will follow up but I don't have to go back to the specialist unless, God forbid, something else comes up.

Looks like we're a day apart! I go for my 20 week US on Tuesday. I had the Harmony test and it was negative along w/my 15 week blood work being normal so I'm glad I don't have to worry about that. I just want to make sure all her other parts are in good working order.

Good luck at your scan on Tuesday! I'm sure everything will look great. Has your pregnancy been pretty easy so far?

I had a couple days of peace and then some spotting on Sat. morning. I've had that off and on throughout this whole pregnancy so I'm not really concerned about it. It only happened once that morning and I can still feel him kicking away in there. I just hate seeing anything like that.

My scan went great, she looked good and nothing was found.

It's nice when they bee bop around in there. I was worried at first b/c I felt my DD at 18 weeks but but with the baby she was inconsistent and it's not until recently that I've felt her every day. Nothing major just some pokes here and there. I think I'm just too busy to notice most the time.

We're half way there!
