I'll probably sound daft here buttt I got to ask... What does
Clary sage oil actually do when you have it in your bath? I put 6 drops in the bath last night (a FULL FULL bath) and laid in it for half an hour.
Today LO doesn't seem to be moving as much as usual? :/. It won't have harmed her will it? She is moving hit not as often.

How mich would you usually put in a bath full?

The clary sage wont hurt little one, it is a stimulant to induce labour, but works better if used in abdomen/back massage. As for the moving, my LO has quite days according to MW it is him having a break after wiggling down.

If you do try abdomen massage - go clockwise and only use 3 drops to 10mls of base oil and best to stick to 4 drops in bath (more because the oil can irritate skin if too much is used and you don't want that down below) xxxx

I had a massage yday with clary sage (mum's a professional masseuse), back massage and also rubbed some on my tummy. Then I had mild contractions all night, could have been a coincidence but you never know. The contractions stopped this morning though :(

I say all of the above ^ as a trained complementary therapist, so if you want any other advice just ask ;) x

I don't suggest using clary sage until you're a bit closer to due date but no, it wont harm her.

I rubbed clary sage mixed with sweet almond oil directly onto my bump at 6pm after I had had a clary sage bath, at midnight my waters broke and by 3pm I had my baby :)

Yes Bio oil will work - as it really is a aromatherapy blend, and the rosemary and lavender in it will also help with stimulating and also relaxing as tension is one of the main culprits of holding off labour. Plus Clary Sage is nice to use scent wise when when blended with lavender and rose. You really don't need to use alot, smaller amounts of essential oil work better through skin absorption then loads of drops.

As I said when massaging tummy imagine it as a big clock face and massage around, or spiral around clockwise from belly button outwards, again clockwise because you need to make sure that you are massaging in the direction your bowels move (to save 'backing up' TMI). For your back spiral circules either side of your spine will help - avoid pressure on your spine as this will cause more discomfort. xXx

I've been using Clary sage since about 38 weeks and it hasnt done anything for me! Not even brought on BHs : ( haha but it is relaxing and i go to sleep with a drop of that and lavender on my pillow at night and i seem to sleep better now. Try not to get your hopes up if it doesnt induce labour but it definately is nice to use :) x

^ but as with all the 'tricks' it might not physically work overnight ( well - the relaxation part will), but will help things along. Mentally/Emotionally it will prepare you though. I am taking my box of chosen oils with me when I go in so that I can at least sniff them - bergamot perks me up nicely so I am hoping it will work in the last stages of labour. x
