Hi Ladies,
Hoping to be joining you all this end of the forum very soon. In the mean time I have a rather silly question (excuse me am first time mother!)... Do you clean your breast before everytime you bf? Should one avoid using things like skin moisterizers on the breast area and keep it au naturelle as much as possible at any given time....?

Thanks!

I never cleaned mine before feeding Sam ...unless i'd had Lansinoh or something on it, and then I'd only wipe it clean. I did avoid using moisturisers and soap/shower gel on them though x

I just clean them in the shower as normal.

As above. You will wipe away the natural oils that keep your nipples healthy so definiately dont clean them I just shower as normal but avoid soap directly on the nips, especially in the early weeks. :)

Same as the others. After about 4 months or so I started using shower gel on them again, just soaping up as I used to, and it was the only time I had a problem with drying and cracking. OMG, it was horrible and really painful. I stopped and have not had any problems since. Your nipples have a natural cleaning system.

Same as everyone else, I have used Lansinoh a couple times, and as its lanolin and my brother is very highly allergic to lanolin, I wiped it off before feeding just incase Halen is allergic to it as well.

 for a while I was giving them a quick wipe with a baby wipe after taking my breast pads out in the evening as they had dried milk and I was concerned about bacteria. But I stopped, didn't seem necessary.
