Cleft Lip

Hi

I had my 20 week scan this morning and it showed my baby has a cleft lip / palate.

I have been scheduled for a Amnio to check for any other abnormalities?

Does anyone have any experience with this?

I ahve not stopped crying sonce this morning...

My friend had a baby with a cleft lip/palate 9 months ago. He has no other abnormalities and has had surgery to fix his lip. Looks very good.

Hey hon My friend also had a little one with a cleft lip. He had surgery and now you can hardly notice anything was amiss in the beginning. Hope the amnio goes well.

My lil girl was born with a cleft lip palate was fine small op at 6 weeks and now you wouldnt notice (shes 10 now) x

Hi my i know how you feel because 6 weeks ago i found out my baby has a cleft lip and palate...
I to couldn't stop crying it took me about 2 weeks to stop crying about things, i am now feeeling so much better about things and have met 2 cleft nurses to talk things threw..My baby will get his or hers lip fixed at 3 months and palate if effected at 6 months
.. And i have had 2 more scans the 3rd scan showed my baby has got a little cleft lip and gum but the palate looks good and is proberly not effected....(but they also said that they can't be sure till baby is born.)
Please pm if you want to know anything else...And i will try my best to help you..

This is my 1st baby and its a girl.

I had a level 2 ultrasound and amnio yesterday. The scan was gooed, it showed that she has a cleft on the left side up the nostril and they checked for the palate but couldnt clearly see.

We get the results from the amnio next week Thursday, so now all i have to do is wait.
