As the months go on I know its hard to for us all to keep positive and we all just have to try and get on with it but I've been feeling very low this past 2 cycles with taking Clomid (3rd and 4th cycles). Now I would be susceptible to a bit of depression so I don't know if this is a side effect of the Clomid or just me? I'm contemplating going back on anti-depressants but I'm not keen as we are obviously TTC.

I was just wondering if any of you have experienced depression on Clomid? If so, did you take any meds for it? Or what else did you do?

I'm trying to stay drug free but I know I need to nip this one in the bud as I've been clinically depressed twice before... I'm on Rescue Remedy like mad and was also thinking of taking St John's Wort but I'm not sure if there are any contraindications with it and TTC.

Any advice appreciated xo

Hey Curlywurly!

I'm afraid I can't give you much advice on the clinical depression but I can empathise with how you are feeling...

This is my 4th cycle of Clomid (had 3 cycles then a break for lap and dye etc) and I'm feeling pretty depressed about the whole ttc thing so was unsure whether this is a side-effect of the drug or just how I'm feeling in general!

I'm sure someone will be along to offer you more useful advice on what your other options are re: additional supplements - I just wanted to say you're not alone in this and hope this gives you a little bit of comfort!

Take care  xx

:hugs: Hi CurlyWurly, I'm not sure if depression is a common side effect of Clomid. I am taking 50mg and have experienced some doubt and sadness, but not clinically significant depression. Take care... xx

hey, can totally sympathise with you. This is my 1st cycle using clomid and I'm uber positive about them working but I'm just so down - it's deffo not situational more to do with the tablets. I too have had depression and am feeling that way I felt years ago before going on anti depressants! I think clomid have awful side effects. If they dont work this mth for me then I'm not taking them again. x

Hi hun, don't know about depression but clomid can have some strong side effects so maybe this is just how u react to it. Personally, I'm not depressed but I definately have my down days but I put this down to 22 months of ttc with no success!!

There are other medicines available other than clomid if ur worried, but u could always have a chat with ur GP, just to put ur mind at rest.
x

Clomid made me paranoid, edgy, agitated and reckless. Has some pretty horrendous side effects.

Thanks for replying, I've made an appointment with my GP which is in a couple of weeks. I'll talk things over with her and see what we come up with. I'm ready for giving up but then again I've come this far and in another 2 cycles, the next starting this weekend, it will all be over (probably with still a BFN but at least I tried).

I'm just dreading if the symptoms and depression get even worse but I've managed to not take any time off sick from work, if it gets any worse I've decided I'll need to so I don't go off on one! xo
