My hubby and I stopped trying not to get pregnant 3 years ago. About six months ago we decided to try charting and testing for ovulation. Last month I started shopping for an OB/GYN that would be helpful (my old Dr. wanted to give Mother Nature a little more time).

I found a great Dr. that was not only appalled that we waited as long as we did, but also made me a $20 bet that I would be preggers within 2 months (pending our his & hers tests don’t come back with red flags). He started me on Clomid and scheduled me for a progesterone serum test on day 23 of my cycle to confirm I ovulated. I tend to fluctuate in my cycle lengths and he thinks that I might not actually be releasing an egg. I have one more day of the Clomid.

I guess I’m looking to see if anyone else is/has been in the same boat.

Sorry hun, I havnt been in that situation but just wanted to say good luck and FXd your new Dr is right x x x

I am, we've been ttc since jan...our honeymoon. And since then I've only had two periods. Both brought on by provera. I'm charting it shows I probably ovulated 8 days ago...like cycle day 59. I have an appt June 21 but hoping I get BFP next weekend (our year anniversary) My doc is away on maternity leave...ironic huH?

hey im due to start my 2nd cycle clomid in bout a week im 150mg this time was 100mg before but i didnt ovulate x

Hey! I am in the same boat. I just had my 1st round of clomid, an hCG trigger shot to help me ovulate and was on progesterone suppositories. I have PCOS though, so I guess its a little different..AF came today, on schedule (I am SUPER irregular) so that is a good sign I think! Clomid is good stuff though, I know a few success stories thanks to Clomid! Best of luck to you!

Thanks everyone, it's good to know I am not the only one... I was not aware that Clomid could cause mood swings, but my OH has noted that I am a bit quick to temper... and crying watching "Say Yes to the Dress". Good thing today was my last dose this cycle.

Celtic I truly hope your Dr wins the bet lol! I'm sure it's the only gamble you've taken and hoped to lose! Best of luck with the Clomid cycle (bet your OH would like to see the back of those side effects lol!), let us know how you get on and what the results of the prog serum are.

Sorry, I can't offer you any practical advice but I would love to know how the charting has been for you if you wouldn't mind sharing? Do you chart your BBT? If so how have you found it? xxx

Hi, I am on my 2nd round of clomid 50mg CD2-6 and I just got confirmation on my 1st round I ovulated so at least its another step in the right direction. keep us updated on your results with Clomid, FXD.

LilLeafyLea – I am not able to effectively chart or track my BBT because I have an inherited problem maintaining a regular body temp. I usually run between 96.8 & 97.8 and it fluctuates a lot. I’ve seen it change several times over the course of an hour. As a young child, I was prone to fever-induced seizures.

I do track my OPK results as well as my CM. Although the last 2 months I had a mild bacterial infection and didn’t even know it. Apparently that emergency 25 cent tampon a few months ago was a bad idea :dohh:. My doctor told me that the presence of bacteria can cause white blood cells to gather and they will attack EVERYTHING rendering the baby-dancing we did ineffective. Probably TMI, but something to keep in mind and have your specialist check for. Fortunately, I do get regular positive OPK’s. So we know my LH Surge is working, just not so sure about the egg release  (maybe a rusty hinge or something). My doctor thinks that the 5+ years I was on Depo may have sent my ovaries into hibernation.

Anyway, by charting I’ve been able to better predict when to expect AF (huge deal cause I’m pretty irregular) and have found some more subtle consistencies that I was not aware of. I’ve also realized that the times I thought we were doing the BD at the correct time, were really way off of when we should have been dancing.

Everyone probably already knows this, but just in case… I would recommend reading “What to Expect Before You’re Expecting”. I was surprised my sister-in-law hadn’t read it when she was TTC. I’ve been using the charts in the back and my OH is able to keep up on what’s going on as well (I’ve caught him several times flipping through it and reading :haha:).

I am expecting a +OPK tomorrow, so my OH and I will be dancing tonight and for the next few nights. My fingers & toes are crossed while my legs are not…:dohh: (sorry, I have a crass sense of humor and mean no offense). I go in on June 3rd for the Prog Serum test as well as a few others. My OH will be getting tested as well, as we are early in the “what’s wrong with us” phase. I will keep those of you interested, up to date on what we find.

Good luck to everyone!

I didn't know that about bacterial infections. Very interesting.
Do you know if that would include a yeast infection?

I hope that you get your BFP this month! I am in my second month of clomid and will be testing June 1st. Cheers to us!

Yes, any kind of infection will cause increased white-cell count. White-cells are not friendly to TTC. If you suspect any kind of infection, go see your doctor to help get it cleared up quickly.
