Clomid...Hoping 3rd Times a Charm

Today I am starting my 3rd cycle on clomid 50 mg on CD 5-9. I really hope this one takes. My dr does not plan on letting me do clomid longer than 3 cycles. We recently found out my husband has a low count (12 million). He has an appointment on the 4th to get further testing. My dr originally put me on clomid hoping to boost my eggs. I O on my own before the clomid. I really do not want to move on to IUI & IVF, but will if that is what it comes down to.

I have placed a call in to my dr requesting an increase this cycle to 100 mg. I have also asked about progesterone. I usually spot a few days before my period & I have read this could be a sign my levels are not high enough. I heard taking it cannot hurt, so I would rather be safe.

Anyways, looking for more clomid users to get through the month of December with me.

:dust:

Hello, im new here. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about 14 months. Its been a long journey for us. I was diagnosed with mild PCOS. I don't ovulate regularly. maybe every 3 months if that. I have completed 2 unsuccessful cycles of clomid. One at 50mg days 5-9, the other 100mg at 5-9 as well. I have only been producing one follicle each time.
I am about to start my 3rd cycle of Clomid sometime this month.. As soon as AF shows up. I am going to try and take it for cycle day 3 to 7 to see if I get more follicles. What cycle days have you tried taking it? I'm almost ready to give up. On my 2nd cycle, my dr put me on estrogen to help thicken my lining and prometruim to maintain it and a to prevent spotting. I always spot like a week before AF. Dr. think I may have a Luteal Phase Defect. :( I thought my second round would be a success, but im not so lucky. I wonder if I stop clomid if my body will ovulate on its own. I don't want to delay things either... so confusing.. and stressful

First high on my monitor today & today is my husband's first day off...let the baby making sessions begin!

Yay! Let it begin! You're gonna fertilize an eggie this cycle!!

I'll start my clomid on Mon. Hoping to get a smiley on my CB digital around cd12 or 13 so I'll O on cd13 or 14. Not sure why I never got a smiley last cycle, unless like some said, maybe I missed the surge (although that's the first time in a year that I didn't get a solid smiley). But since my temps rose, I had to have O'd, so those dark lines on the FR sticks must've been the pos that I didn't think were. This time I will test with the CB digital twice a day to be safe.

Hello Ladies, figured I would join you over here since I am on to a new cycle. I am not sure if I will be doing Clomid again this cycle but I'm still going to ttc. I have a call set with my DR on Monday morning and possible appt Monday afternoon. If I do Clomid it will be CD 5-9 since we will miss the CD 3 start time.

Beaglemom I am sorry you are having headaches, I had miserable headaches and a bad migraine for a couple of days last cycle. That is one of the things I plan to talk to my DR about, side effects were horrible last round.

I got myself a thermometer today so I can start taking BBT to chart on FF. I want to temp because I am curious to see what my cycle looks like but my FI thinks that I shouldn't because it is just one more thing to stress me out while TTC.

Lots of baby dust and wishing for christmas bfps!

Also alicarr, so sorry about the CP in your first round. :( I know that has to be hard. Try not to worry about the brown blood... I seem to read about that a LOT, prior to either AF or a bfp. I had a lot of it a couple cycles ago, and then just brown spotting this last cycle. I wasn't prego, but I've also seen a lot of women who got that prior to a bfp too, and went on to have healthy pregnancies. In fact, seems very common. So don't let yourself worry, although I'm sure that's hard after you had a CP once.

Thank you, I truly appreciate it. I did end up getting AF shortly after, I just usually always start with a heavy flow, and I had brown blood with the chemical, so it had me hopeful and fearful at the same time. I think the hardest part of having a chemical pregnancy is that you know that you were able to get pregnant, and then not having any luck afterwards is kind of discouraging, but they said I am ovulating better than some women that ovulate on their own, so now it is just time for my DH to get tested! Thank you and good luck!!!

Hi NellyGal, I somehow missed your post yesterday. I'm taking my clomid days 5-9. I agree, the ttc journey is confusing... I want to do whatever it takes to get prego, but then I wonder if I should be trying something different, but I'm afraid to change things, because then I fear I'd be delaying things even longer. This is a tough and confusing spot to be in. So your doc is afraid you may have a LP effect, even on the clomid? I'm assuming since you mentioned your follies, that your dr is doing u/s, but are you doing anything to know exactly which day you O, like OPKs or temping or anything? If he thinks you have a LP defect, I'm surprised he doesn't try to pinpoint your O day, because he could then switch your clomid days to 3-7 if necessary. You mentioned that you're waiting for AF, so I'm assuming you haven't started your new cycle just yet? It might not be a bad idea to get some OPKs and a basal thermometer if you aren't already doing that. I wouldn't encourage that for everyone since sometimes it just adds undue stress, but I'm thinking it would be beneficial for you to pinpoint your O day. I do both myself, because it gives me peace of mind to see when I'm O'ing.

MissStacy, my DH kinda wishes I'd stop temping too. He just thinks I'm putting too much effort into the whole thing. But as far as I'm concerned, since it gives me such peace of mind to see when I O, it's really a super easy step for me each morning. I told him I would just stop stressing over a single temp drop or over-analyzing my data, and that made him feel better. :) Don't let it stress you out. It's really good info to have, but all you need is the higher pattern after O. I promised myself after my last cycle that I'm not gonna look at temp drops hoping they're implantation dips and things like that. It just wasn't accomplishing anything for me. :)

So since this may be may last clomid cycle, I was considering having a baby making every night until the monitor goes back to low. But with my husband's low count, it is not recommended. But I just sort of think what he hell?...jut send all the troops he has at any given moment. I think I am going a bit nuts. Ugh!

Here's a thought... Since I've heard mixed opinions on every day/every other day, my DH and I sometimes alternate morning/night. If we BD in the morning, then the next day we'll wait until night. So that leaves just a little more time between sessions. Occasionally that means skipping a day, but we always do it first thing the next morning, so we're really only missing a day by about 8-9 hrs (when sleeping). I feel like it's a good middle ground right between every day and every other day. Of course, it's not always like that because I don't like to make it feel "scheduled", and sometimes on the weekends we BD midday. But we usually manage it. We that from cd9 through the day of O. And then we BD the morning after O, just in case eggie came super late at night and is still hangin out in there, lol.

Btw, not sure if your dr mentioned this, but your DH could also increase his water intake. Drinking lots of water increases the volume of semen...not sperm, but semen. And since there's a certain amount of sperm per ml of semen, then the more ml of semen, the more sperm, right? Does that make any sense, or was that totally confusing, lol! My DH's sperm count was high, but my dr said the amount in the cup could've been more, lol. (Could've had something to do with the fact that he was in a clinic!). So my dr recommended he drink more water, because the more semen, the more spermies, and the more chances.

That is some good advice...as far as water, that is all my husband drinks & he drinks frequently. So I am not sure he can actually increase it by much & still have time for life...lol. I may be the one who needs to drink more...I am bad about staying hydrated.

As far as the timing...I am really not a morning person. It also seems rushed a little because I need to go to work...and I am not good at waking up 5 min early to run small errands let alone have sex. And sadly, my husband loves sleep more than sex. Oh well...I am going to try to get it in every day if I can...and if it doesn't work out, I will try not to stress over it. I just don't understand how it can hurt. I mean let's just say (just using a round number) he made 100 boys in a day...so we get those going after the egg tonight...then again tomorrow. What is the difference in that & having 200 soldiers coming at me every other day? Anyways...google doesn't help...it seems I only come across women who hump like rabbits & get it done the first month. It is didn't have as much to do about the every day as it did that maybe they are just super fertile.

Yea I totally hear ya.... I've done that math in my head before, and I think to myself sometimes, what difference does it really truly make?! Lol. That's one reason I never went to every other day. I figured well, I'll do the morning/night thing now and then as a compromise just in case there really is some scientific proof behind that. But I've yet to find anything definitive on google, so when we do BD every day, I still feel okay about it. It's still getting sperm in there either way! :winkwink:

My doctor actually recommended not taking the day off - he said there might be less each time, but in general the more you do it the more there is. (We have count issues as well.)

Welcome and FXed to everyone. The doctor recommended I take the ovidril to push the cyst out. He said that there still may be an egg inside and so we should try naturally. Still going to take this month for me though. He said I could take the ovidril today - so it will at least be an early cycle for me.

I took the clomid day 3-7. I ovulated on my own - the purpose of the clomid was to produce more eggs for me. I also would ovulate naturally around day 10 - so the clomid pushed me out a bit too. I have a high reading yesterday and today on the monitor. The ovidril will probably push the smiley to wednesday.

Thanks...I really appreciate someone who has the same issues & a doctor telling them more can't hurt. However, my husband does not agree. He wants to stick with EOD. But when I get my peak, I am going to get my baby making session!

I finally got my dr office. I rescheduled my appt for January since I am not done with cycle 3. So she wouldn't do anything new. I expect the appt would just be a next step session.

I forgot to mention I have had a backache today & some AF like cramps. I am actually pretty happy about it. Round 1 on clomid was a very intense O & round 2 was an early O not very dramatic. I think if I had to choose, I would rather feel the intense stuff...makes me feel like the clomid is actually doing something.

I talked to my DR this morning and am going to start another round of clomid tonight, so CD 4 to 8, 50mg. I did 3 to 7 the last 2 rounds and missed CD 3 this month due to the holiday weekend. We decided not to increase the dosage since I've had a lot of side effects.

We discussed that everything seems to be working OK. She is going to have the hospital call me to schedule the HSG for January. She's hoping we get a BFP but since there can be a long wait she wants to get it on the books as the next step if need be.

I started temping this morning, I do agree that I want to be able to see when I O and to have all the information available for my DR that I can control.

I think the major stresser for me is to not try to over analyze every little symptom this cycle.

beaglemom, that's great that you feel like you're feeling O again! I know that's kind of a relief. :) I never feel O, but i'm wondering if I will on this higher dose of clomid. I'm like you, I really wouldn't mind one bit!

MissStacy, that's great that you got your clomid for your cycle! :) And I totally get it about not over-analyzing every symptom. Although at this point, I'm pretty much over it. I've come to realize that in my TWW, my boobs hurt every time, I get dull cramps for several days, my temp will dip here and there for no reason, I get brown spotting before every period, and my face is breaking out from the clomid now too, lol! So I dont really do much symptom spotting. Unless I notice something completely out of the norm... that might get me going. Other than that, it hasn't been helpful for me. I'm glad you're charting! Are you using FF?

Yes I'm using FF but for some reason I cannot figure out how to put my chart in my signature. I'm not finding the info on the FF website.

*Edit: As soon as I posted I found the link, LOL

Oh good, I'm glad you got it! Btw, I just started my clomid today too. :)

Beaglemom, your profile pic is adorable!! Reminds me a little bit of my sweet pup, except I have a mutt. Ours has that same sweet face and ears though! So sweet.

So last night was unsuccessful. The preseed is not holding up to the job. My husband says when air hits it, it gets a sticky feel to it. I was not having any issues with the feel, but he was. So I stopped by the drug store & picked up the generic robitussin & plan to drink it all day. The good thing is everyone at work will just think I am sick. Erin, I wanted to let you know the description on the bottle is chest ccongestion. It only has that G word active ingredient. I found it at Rite Aid for about $5. I would def go that route instead of mucinex...even the generic mucinex is twice as much.

My insides are feeling tight like cycle 1 of clomid. Having some AF like cramps. It seems as if everything inside is becoming enlarged. So I am actually excited about all that. Still no peak on the monitor. But since I have had highs, we have put in a good effort. Just need to get a successful attempt in tonight.
