Went to the GP and she informed me she wont put me on any fertility drugs because of the monitoring involved, but my OB sounded like she might go for Clomid.

So my question is this: What kind of monitoring do you need while you take Clomid? I'm 99.9% sure i don't ovulate.

Thanks for your answers in advance!

Hi there! I think a lot of the time, OB's don't monitor, but FS (fertility specialists) do....they might do bloodwork to confirm levels after ov and/or ultrasounds to track development of follicles. I was prescribed Clomid by my obgyn, and she had me do 2 cycles without monitoring. So, I think it kind of depends on the doctor prescribing it. :)

I've been referred to a fs, but I really can't afford to go yet. I'm hoping to return to the ob and get clomid. Or at least bloods. They've not checked my estrogen levels or anything outside thyroid and prolactin.

I have been seeing a FS for a while, he put me on 4 cycles of Clomid, I had to have a scan for the first cycle to see if it was working and it was, so he told me I didn't need to come back for the next cycle.

I have to go private because of my age, the scan cost £120.

i took 3 rounds of clomid feb. march and april off 2011 and had no monitoring and I've taken 4 rounds (nov. & dec 2011 and jan. & feb this year) with no monitoring. my ob was pretty laid back about it she just told me to take it for 3 months if i wasn't pregnant call an she would up the dose for another 3 months then go from there. i would like to be monitored to know if its working like it should or if I'm just wasting my time. i think it all just depends on the doctor

Hi there
I think you only have monitoring if clomid is prescribed as part of IUI, but im not sure! Only speaking from experience as I'm going through IUI and have to have regular scans to check the follicles are maturing at the correct size.

good luck xx
