Hello! I have also posted in the ttc section and I know this isn't anything compared to what some of you ladies are going through but I thought you all might have some advice or stories. I am on cd 9 and took my last clomid pill this morning(50mg). Now I guess its just a waiting game (and of course lots of bding). I have been having some side effects so I am hoping this means its working. My s/e have been painful boobs (feels like they do when your prego), pain in ovaries (why am I having it already, is this normal), MAJOR mood swings, and some dizziness. Anyone else going through this or gone through this? Anyone have their clomid stats or stories? I feel like I am waiting for Christmas or something with all this waiting for bloodwork and waiting to take hpt!! I can't wait and I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Oh and I am planning a vacation at the end of next month. If I do get pregnant is it safe to get in a hot tub? Just curious....I will ask my doc to but in the mean time I thought I would ask you ladies.

COME ON CLOMID WORK!!!!! GIVE ME A BFP PPPPLLLLEEEAAAASSSEEEE!

I did take Clomid for 1 year total a few years back. My side effects were the following:

-Major headaches
-dizziness
-dryness "down there"
-B*tchiness (my husband said my attitude was torture)
-Fatigue
-Ovary pain
-Severe Depression (really bad, scary bad)

So yes, everything you are experiencing is very normal for Clomid, and Clomid does tend to stay in your system longer than other ovulation inducing/follicle maturing drugs.

As far as Hot Tubs are concerned, I would steer clear of any bathing/hot tubs with water that is higher than your body temperature 98.6. This can hurt your follilces or possible fertilized egg. Just be safe and stay away till you know for sure :)

After all the side effects of Clomid, I spoke to my doctor about it. He informed me that there is another drug called Femara (aka Letrozole). It's a drug to be proven JUST as effective as Clomid but has little to no side effects. It's primary use is to treat women with Breast Cancer. But after LOTS of studying they found it worked the same as Clomid in Infertility. It's a great drug! I have used Femara quite a bit and became pregnant TWICE with it :) Just another option out there if the side effects become too much for you!!!

Good luck, I hope you get your :bfp: soon!!!! P.S. -- The waiting is absolutely torturess! BUT the wait is certainly worth the BFP! Just think first we wait 2 weeks for a BFP then we wait 8 more months after that to meet our little munchkin!

No hot tubs for me then!

I don't mind the side effects really because if the end result is a precious baby...it is soooo worth it. Thank you for the new med ideas though, I didn't even know I had other options. I have become prego with clomid before. It took five rounds. So I am hoping it will work this time as well.

I am now in the wait to ovulate stage of my cycle (well hopefully). I feel like I am going stir crazy. I can't wait for cd21 so I can get my blood work and then of course testing day!

Oh I see your little DD came in Oct of 2008...my DS was born Nov of 2008. I LOVE being his mother.

I just finished my first round of clomid last week and had hot flashes, ovarian pain, and some serious attitude, which lingered a few days after my last dose. my OH finally gave up towards the end and said "i just don't know how to handle you right now!" lol..

So what cd are you? I am on cd15. Have you had any ewcm or any indication of ovulation yet? I think I could be maybe 1 or 2dpo ovulation. I had a ton of ewcm on cd13 but not sure when the eggy dropped or if it has dropped yet. I am such a basket case right now because of this waiting game.

I am CD13. Normally, without meds, I would ovulate today, but I haven't had a +opk :( I also haven't had ewcm, although I had a lot of discharge around CD8-10. I'm going in tomorrow for an ultrasound to see how things look. I'm hoping to have my IUI at the same time, if I'm ovulating or about to ovulate. We'll see :)

I've now taken clomid for 4 cycles and by far the worst side effects were hot flashes and headaches. This month for the first time I felt discomfort and pain in my ovaries.

If you can suffer through the side effects then it is worth it! The side effects were never enough to make me want to switch.

Good luck!

Good Luck TouchtheSky!

Yeah Springy so far I have had a lot of side effects but nothing so bad as to make me not want to take them. A baby is so worth it! :)
