Clomid users, past or present

I start Clomid tomorrow. This will be my first time taking it. I am prescribed 50mg CD5-9. I am a wee bit nervous about taking it. I am worried about side effects and such. Can anyone please share what side effects you had? I would really appreciate it. Also, anyone get pregnant on Clomid? How long did you have to take it for before you got pregnant? Thanks in advance,

I take 100mg of clomid days 2-6 and I take it on an evening so I sleep off the side effects and I would throughly recommend this! I find that I do feel warmer when I am in bed and suffer heavy sweats but I would prefer to have this at night than hot flushes during the day. The main side effect I seem to have is moodiness! I tend to be a lot more irritable and grumpy! The other side effect I have is I feel kinda drained and tired with it especially in the last days of taking it. But everyone is different so you might not feel any effects! I hope the clomid works for you, good luck

i take 50 mg and the main side effects for me have been hot flushes and a constant headache, but as the girls say take it at night it helps x

Good luck honey! I took 100, then 150 mg of Clomid... the first time was on days 5-9, the 2nd I THINK was days 3-7, but not 100 percent sure without looking at my book which is at home right now. I think I might have taken it a 3rd time, but with switching from my regular gyno to the specialist, those days all seem to run together now! I personally did not ovulate from it, but I know there are a lot of success stories.
I had hot flashes and mood swings, but I think those were the only side effects.

Hey there, i took 50mg clomid from day 2 - 6 of my period and it worked first time for me! I too had a constant headache, mood swings and some lightheadedness. Also felt very tired near the end. Like the rest of the girls say, take it at night before bed and the effects are slightly less. One thing i will say is avoid alcohol! I had one glass of wine one night (around day 4 of clomid) and was very ill the next day, i actually passed out and my o/h had to scrap me off the floor! I am due to start my 2nd cycle at the end of this month (unfortunately the first pregnancy didn't last). Despite my fears there doesn't seem to be any proven link between clomid and m/c i just think my body wasn't quite ready this time (i hadn't ovulated in years then all of a sudden i did and became pregnant - think my body had the shock of the century!!) As far as i'm concerned, clomid is wonderful - bring on round 2!! Good luck to you, hope it all goes well xx

I have taken clomid for two months and I have not had any side effects, not even hot flushes, thankfully. I first was put on 100mg and now reduced to 50mg because there was 3 mature follicles last time so needed to reduce my dose. My next appointment is 17th September to have the injection and then fingers crossed. Good luck for tomorrow.

I did 50mg, 100mg and I just finished my 150mg pills. I take my pills on cd5-9 at night so side effects aren't too bad but I do get hot flashes. Good luck!

I have just finished my 6th and last round of clomid and no BFP, so far...

I would say that the worst side effects I had were hot flushes and being irritabele, especislly in the beginning.

I took it from day 2-5 and some months took iy in the evening and others in the day. You need to take it the same time every day and I would suggest taking it in the evening as it does seem to reduce the hot flushes(cos you sleep through it) It did find that on the days that I didn't drink enough water, I felt worse. So keeping hydrated is a must and also a nice cold drink can really help!

Hiya!

I took clomid 100mg and fell pregnant on round 7. The side effects weren't uncontrollable... mood swings which lasted the first few days each round, blurred vision which only lasted a day or so and headaches. One side effect I did have was I got Ovulation pain - but I didn't mind that as I knew I was o'ing then.

I know it took me a while... but before Clomid we were trying for just over 2 years with no luck, so I think it is a magical pill (for me anyway).

Wishing you the best of luck and one tip I can give is try not to obsess too much (although I know it is difficult)... I did that and got really depressed on occasions - but when I thought it wasn't my month - I got a bfp.

The main purpose of me taking it was to increase the quality of my follicles. I always put lots of them, but the doc wanted to make them stronger.

I took CD3-7 Clomid 100mg and got the hcG shot on CD13. I had 6 follicles in total.

The onnly thing was cramps, it was annoying!!!!! and the pain after the shot was horrible!!

Maybe bec I only took it once I didnt feel much side effects? I dont know

It was worth it though

They have already told me that if this round hasn't worked (in terms of ovulating not necessarily getting pregnant!) they are taking me off it as I'm not responding.

Anyone else noticed that the ladies in the US / Canada are being told to take it days 5-9 and the UK ladies are being told 2-6? Is it just a coincidence or something strange going on?! Would be interested to see if there is a pattern about which one works better!

That is a very good point, I would love to know why different days are recommended and what difference it takes

It's funny that you mentioned this, because today I while I was relaxing in the tub, I was reading a book, "How to Become Pregnant" which is written in the UK, and it said to take Clomid days 2-6. I thought that was strange, but, it said that it worked better on those days. Well, I decided that if this month doesn't work, I am switching to days 2-6.

I conceived on Clomid, first round too, so i hope that gives you some hope! I have PCOS, been seeing a Consultant for years re problems controlling weight! And was given metphormin! Which i toke for @ 5years! And i lost weight Yippee!
Any Hoo, saw consultant in Dec and advised we was going to be starting a family hopefully in the New Year, She sent me for Blood tests and all showed that i wasnt really ovulating @ day 21 as cycle was usually @ 38days long! So my GP sent me back to see her sooner then the 6-7month wait! In April after 3months TTC on our own we was given clomid!
I was worried nervous and basically thought we have 6 goes and thats it!!
I started with 50mgs cycle day 2-6 (taken at night in case of side effects) which i had none!! And on day 21 i ovulated with a reading of 29! I started to bleed on cd27 but wasnt my usual period! Spoke to GP and she said if its NOT your usual period than dont count it as a bleed and wait for it to arrive, cd32 still odd spotting and did a Pregnancy test and i got my PREGNANT on the clear blue digi........

My advice to you is to be positive, and talk about your concerns with your OH! Dont bottle anything up and try not to bother if possible with OPK's as you end up focusing on a plastic stick, just make love every 2-3 days (thats what my Consultant said)

And right no i'm 21weeks and 5days PREGNANT with my baby Girl
And i honest still cant believe it.

Suzan, I also ovulate on my own, but I have either unexplained infertility and low progesterone. They didn't do all the tests because of my age and the time it takes, and he said that for either diagnosis, it would be prescribed the same thing: clomid! So, that is where I am right now. Your story (and other's here) have given me such hope. Thanks everyone!

im on it at the moment. first 50g then 100g and now im on 150mg. i take it day 2 -7. at the first i took it during the day and the side effects were pretty bad. i had headaches and hot flushes. ive been on it 7 months now and im oving big time so thats good. now i take it at night so i sleep thru the effects.

i got preg on 6 month,i have prolactin level's,
i had a few mood swings but i put it down to pressure of getting pregnant,
think positive and bonk for england lol
