Clomid without af first ??

Hi all, quick question, can you take clomid without having an AF first, i know you are supposed to take it on the set cycle days but i have not had an AF since 5 August so im on CD 41 and without going into it too much dont want to wait till AF arrives or is enduced, and have read online that you can take it, just wondering if nayone has any advice. thanks xxxxxxx

I would ask your doctor about that hun. You are on CD41, but are you sure you haven't ovulated already? Or your body may be gearing up to ovulate tomorrow! You can't really know so it's better to start with a brand new cycle. I know some women haven't, but I wouldn't take it mid-cycle unless directed by my doctor.

thanks for ur advice hun, i knwo what i shoudl do, but i am tired of waiting, i dont think ive already ov's because my temps are all still eratic and mostly low xx

Maria, any experience with BCP (combined low dose, not mini-pill)? It works just the same as progesterone (Provera) to bring on AF. A lot of women waiting for IVF are taking the pill for 10-20 days to "schedule" their treatment cycle.

I think if it's the same cycle you've already taken Clomid on right days, then you don't wanna add more to it without AF. If you haven't been taking anything this cycle, then you might try it, but it's a gamble.

I took my first pill without my period (advised to take days 1-5) but that was because I hadn't had a period since coming off birth control nearly three years previously.

I would advise calling you doc (the one that prescribed it) and see what he says.

Soili, i did that with BC 7 weeks ago to induce myself as doc wouldnt do it for me and tired of waiting. took 4 days worth of Progesterone only and havent ovulated since.

princess lou did you ovulate after taking your clomid without your period?

i took my first one last night and woke up this morning to a VERY positive OPK test. nto sure if that was brewing anyway or the clomid. vv confused xx

I didn't ovulate on the first cycle and didn't get AF, the FS told me to start the second round without AF (scan showed it wasn't coming as I had no lining) and upped the dosage from 50mg to 100mg. I ovulated at that dosage and had AF.

thanks for ur replies. i took it the last 2 days and my CM has turned very EWCM which it hasnt done in a long long time, but i am getting positive opks and high temps too, so im not sure if thats because of the clomid or ovulation. if i take the clomid and have already ovulated is there any damage that can be done?xxx

I think it probably won't do anything, if you already ovulated. Clomid would give you pos. OPK while you're taking it though, they say to wait a few days since last one to start testing.

I had high temps (36.8-36.9) for long time this cycle too, and apparently didn't produce any lining (or it ate itself ), because Provera didn't work
