Hello,

I have my first gynae appointment in the morning and my gp seems to think that they will give me clomid to stimulate my ovaries. BUT i have not had af for 8 years due to being on the depo for 8 years and even after being off it for 13 months still no af. If i have not had a af how will they know when i am supposed to take it? I know i could just wait till tomorrow to ask them but it has been bugging me.
Any help greatly appreciated! xxx

If you haven't had an AF in 8 years clomid isn't going to help you unless they give you something to stimulate your flow, which they may do. There are medications available to help bring on AF. Good luck.

I agree with NeyNey. Chances are that they will give you meds (like provera) to stimulate AF, then you can start the Clomid. You should join us in the Clomid Club! Good luck...

A girl I know had a similar issue. They gave her Clomid and she conceived twins...a boy and a girl who just turned 1. I am not sure if they induced AF or not..but, it was her third or fourth round of Clomid.

Thanks everyone for your replies i brought it up with the Dr (who is prescribing me Clomid next week after results of bloods) and he said i can just start taking it. He said it woul be better if i had a bleed but it would no0t make much difference. He seems really optimistic and he said he was certain that i would be pregnant very soon!
Not wanting to get my hopes up too much but very easy to get carried away with his enthusiasm.

Thanks for all of your replies and i will let you know how it goes.
Are there any side effects taking Clomid?

I hope to start clomid on 28th july - will keep you posted on how i get on - although must say I am quite nervous

I'd recommend taking a preg test now, then avoiding sex for 7 days, then testing again just to be 100% sure, though I'm suprised they didnt give you provera... I knew a girl who borrowed 2 birth control pills from a friend, took them, and then had the standard withdrawal bleed about 5 days later. I know it's not ideal, but thats what I'd do... after 8 years, I'd want fresh lining for possible implantation, but thats just my two cents.

symptoms vary from person to person, but I was tired and grouchy more than anything else. I'll be starting 50mg again at the end of this week, so I'll keep you updated lol

Thanks, some good points, im back at the hospital next Monday to get the prescription etc so i will definitely be bringing these points up with him before i leave.

Thanks again and good luck to us both.
