I was wondering (and no I'm not thinking of doing this...) but has anyone took clomid without a prescription?

I know that you can buy it and stuff, but I know it's been mentioned a few times on here

I thought about it, but I got it prescribed before I had to. I'm not sure about there, but it's pretty easy to talk a Gyno into prescribing it. I would recommend that you see one first, only because it may be useless if there is an underlying condition that is causing another problem - such as blocked tubes.

:hugs:

OMG- I can't believe you can buy Clomid! That sounds a bit dangerous but I suppose its a last resort for some people. I'm just going to go and look it up....

Funny cos was thinking about this very subject today. My GP just doesn't believe that my having a luteal stage of 9-10 days is a problem but I know it's on the borderline and having Clomid could lengthen it. So what if I'm still TTCing next year and he still won't do anything about it? Might I have to resort to ordering Clomid off the net? x

I only know of one person who has bought it but not actually tried it.
its mainly given as a prescription because of the risks of OHSS (Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome)

trixie, have you thought of trying progesterone to try and lengthen your lp?

Iknow the borough that I live in only give six rounds of the stuff and after that your own your own. I would be careful cos yes it can cause over stimulation.

As tempting as it sounds when one is longing for a baby, I think its very important to talk to a DR before taking drugs that are usually prescribed.....

:hugs:

I agree with all you ladies.

I mean, I've been checked for PCOS (more than once!) and I have at least 1 tube working properly etc etc, but I still wouldn't, because of the risks and I'd not be monitored, but I know that some people do - without even being checked for PCOS - which is dangerous, because it can cause cysts and make existing cysts bigger.

I know of at least 3 people who have bought it, but caught just before they used it - hehe maybe that's the trick to getting pregnant  intending on using clomid - ok, bad joke I know, but bet it made you roll your eyes? hehe

A few months back, I would have said go for it.... BUT after getting the ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome from the Follistim, I would NOT suggest taking any kinds of fertility drugs without getting your bloodwork carefully monitored and the internal ultrasounds. It really is nothing to mess around with. It was one of the most painful experiences that I have ever been through.
I even have a bottle of Clomid in my medicine chest that my regular gyno had prescribed for me (before I started going to the fertility specialist) that I have been very tempted to take on my own, but I just don't want to risk it.

Good luck!

I think, because it's available on the internet, without a prescription, and pretty easy to get, that people who are desperate for a BFP can be very easily tempted. You know?

I was monitored when my obgyn perscribed clomid. He brought me in after the first cycle to see if I has ovarian hyper stimulation or if I developed any cysts before I can continue to the second cycle.

Mynxie,

I totally understand the temptation and the desire to see your :bfp: quickly, but if it messes something up, it'll take longer to fix it. Hormones and reproductive organs are very sensitive. Please try to resist taking it on your own. Consult your OB/gyn.

I completely agree with Chefamy. I was prescribed Clomid and am scared out of my mind to take it. Less so now than before but still...

Anyway, best of luck to you, hopefully you'll get your :bfp: soon.

I wouldnt recomend buying it with out presription! As you Consultant/GP would know your medical history and your only ment to use it for @ 6months.
I was given it and it worked on round one, so now i have a packet in my bedside draw lol. I'd say i'd give it to some one, but i wouldnt as i think it would be too dangerous!
C x

I am on Clomid it is my second month and a failure. I have a blood test on day 22 and a scan day 11 every month.
I was advised not to try this month as I have been stimulated so well I had 3 follicules on one side. I didn't really understand why I couldn't try until a friend explained why the NHS don't like you to try due to the of risk multiple births. I am really upset as we all know the side effects of this drug.
I have been reduced to 25milligrammes now so without supervision I wouldn't risk taking it.

A friend of mine got her :bfp:last week after 3 years ttc and her 4th round of clomid. I jokingly asked her to send me any that she had left, and was kinda upset when she said she hadn't got any because she was waiting for a prescription when she got her :bfp:. I'm 100% sure that I wouldn't have used it, but it was bery tempting.......

:huh::huh::huh::huh::huh::huh: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH my GOD

I thought i was the only one this desperate, last night i had them in the shopping basket on a website:blush:

BUT all i could think of was , "what if it was horse worming tablets they sent out"

I am scared at how desperate i am, the only reason the NHS will NOT prescribe it is because i am a big girl:cry: xxx
