Clotrimazole Pessary For Thrush? Confused...

I have been prescribed this by my doctor the other day. She knows I am pregnant (about 5/6 weeks) so I assumed it was fine to use.

Anyways in the leaflet it says it should not be used in early pregnancy then it says underneath not to be used in pregnancy unless prescribed by a doctor and if you do use it not to use the applicator!?!

When I was pregnant with Liam I had thrush but it was around 20 weeks and I was just prescribed the canestan one with the creme and it did say to only use if you have seeked medical advice but nothing about early pregnancy I dont think?

Has anyone else used this one before and if so is it safe or not? Not sure what to do!

When i had thrush, the midwife said to use the pessary but not to use the applicator to insert it. She said it's fine to use during pregnancy without the applicator

So I just need to insert the pessary myself then? Just worried me as it said not to be used at all in early pregnancy...

My midwife said to ignore that and it's safe to use as long as you use your fingers to put it in. If you're really worried though then wait and give your doc/midwife a call tomorrow for some reassurance

You could use the cream in the meantime

She didn't prescribe me any cream just the pessary but I have some canestan cream from a few months back so I've been using that.

i had this when was peg with ds she said to put it in yourself not with applicator and not to high up either. you may eperience some falling out a little this will be normal cus it's not that high x

Yeah when I had thrush I was told by my doctor I could use the cream and pessary but not the tablet. She told me to ignore the box as I said it said not to be used but she advised its just to cover their backs

I used my fingers to insert it as like readytta I was told not to use the applicator.

Same for me to, I was told to use the pessary but not with the applicator, dont know what I did wrong though, as it didn't dissolve and was still there 4 days later so I took it out! (TMI)
