Soooo went to docs and he informed me i have thrush?! I was like whaaaat! because i've had it before and i really haven't noticed any symptoms. Anyways he prescribed me the Clotrimazole pessary, before i did it last night i decided to read the notes that came with it and it says do not take if you are pregnant unless told to do so by a doctor and if so do not use the applicator.
Im a little paranoid [i think my doctors a bit stupid] can i take this and if i'm not to use the applicator then what? Finger?
Sorry this is so random, i feel very stupid asking it but well, i'm paranoid!..xx

I got diagnosed with thrush on Monday - but my Dr gave me the cream - maybe you could ask for the cream instead?

Lol xx

I use the cream, if you don't want to go back to the Drs to change it for cream Tesco's pharmacy do their own version for about £3 & it works

I didn't know this  I just paid £6 for canestan!! Will go to Tescos next time, cheers!

Lol xx

hi i used the cream for about a week as noticed i was bit itchy down there....then when it didnt disappear but got worse i went to dr & got swab done...i was diagnosed with thrush (which i kinda knew!) he prescribed the pessarys for 3 consecutive nights which i did last week & its all better :) think u just have to be extra careful when using applicator not to push it in very far xx

The pessary will be fine - my consultant obstetrician prescribed it for me last week!!! According to her the cream is useless in pregnancy and she swears by the pessary.

It's just generic Canesten. I feel pretty confident with pessaries so I used the applicator but you can use a finger to push the tablet in and if this is new to you I would recommend that you do this. The external cream won't clear thrush up as effectively as the pessary in a lot of cases.
The reason that it is recommended only via prescription by a doctor is that thrush symptoms can occur for other reasons in pregnancy and so they don't want you to buy it over the counter without a medical opinion and confirmation that it is thrush.
