I've been worrying and since it was mentioned on eastenders and the health visitor mentioned it. I've been worrying as babies feet are all bunched up in my ribs what if he doesn't have enough space… it's probably an irrational worry but I can't help it. Does anyone know anything or have any experience with this?? I don't really want to google it :( x

yeh i remember the midwife who came round to see ronnies character said its something that can be sorted out after the babys born i wouldnt worry too much.call your midwife would be best person or do some research on the net.

i was born with club feet in most case there just mild and not to bad but i had to wear splints at bed time and were special shoes during the day but i never wore my splints i didnt like them lol but my feet are fine now but some people have to have plaster casts but on there feet to straighten them out but its nuffink serious (:

My friend had her baby 2 weeks ago who had club feet. He has just had his splints fitted.
If they are concerned they will check it often with scans :)
If you are concerned, ask for a scan!!

Our baby due in feb has left sided Talipes (club foot) and she will have her leg in plaster for 6 weeks - changed weekly and then boots and bars for 23 hours a day for 3 months, then boots and bars for nap time and night time sleep. I have done alot of research so we know what to expect and to be honest - it is easily fixed and no-one will even tell when baby is a few years old that they ever had Talipes.

Hope this helps.

Abi had bilateral talipes when she was born we were given exercises to do by the physio which have made a great improvement we're just waiting til she's walking now to see if she'll need anymore physio.

Whale

How is your friends baby getting on? Have they managed to do something with the skin on his back?

Haven't stopping thinking about the wee soul.

My OH was born with club feet and his feet are normal now although he complains that his ankle pain is to do with it but it might not be, and in any case maybe they didn't treat club foot as well in the 70s in Kenya as they do nowadays in the NHS

Hey tommyg..
he has a skin graft about 10 days ago now, they removed skin from his left thigh and all went well.
He has had his splints fitted this week now his leg has healed enough for them but has to have his mri scan in a couple of weeks for which he will be sedated again :(

thanks for asking by the way, he is a beautiful little boy..with a face you just want to squidge lol!!

Whale I'm so glad the skin graft has gone well. And thanks for letting me know about the splints and things.
Thanks to all you ladies too now I know IRS not really something to be to concerned about! This is exactly y I love bnb!!

I'm so glad that they managed to do a skin graft, and they are sorting his feet out. I guessed that they'd sort his back asap. never realised they would start work on his feet so soon but good to hear it.

How are his parents coping?

The sooner they start the better because of the bones maturing..they planned on doing it when he was a week old but then he was born with things that were prioritised..obviously.
They're doing so well, blaming themselves though which is heartbreaking, I just keep reminding them of how good he is doing and all the things to look forward to inbetween appointments like registering his birth etc.
Bless them!

My mom had a 10 pound tumor in her uterus with me (along with another 5 pounds of miscellaneous tumors), and my feet were cupped around it due to the lack of space. When I was born my feet were stuck in a weird cupped position. My mom did a lot of physical therapy with me for the first couple of years, and then later I had to wear shoes without support to train my muscles how to work properly. I've never had an issue with them for as long as I'm able to remember, so everything worked out ok. So I guess I'm just trying to say don't worry too much, as baby feet can be retrained. :)

Oh I've started to worry about this too! I have an agonizing pain in my ribs on the right side and it's getting worse every day. The baby is due so soon though, I don't think anyone would do anything about it now. The midwife just told me to bounce on a damn ball!
