Clueless about baby monitors!!!

Just wondering what baby monitor everyone has registered for or has used with previous children. There is a big selection out there and I'm totally overwhelmed. Any favourites or advice?

I just had audio monitors for my two, but I'm gonna splurge and get a video with this one. So Im stalking to see if anyone has good ( or bad) reviews of what they've used. There are a lot out there, and a wide price range, so I hope we get some good advise!

I didn't use one with DS, but I am thinking of either getting a good quality audio one with this one, or getting DH to finally install that whole house video surveillance setup with camera in the bedroom I can see in my phone...

I don't know the name of it but my husband was talking about getting a video one that we can also use our iPhones with it- to view the video.

I had a Tommy tippee one with my daughter but I set it up without the movement sensor. I didn't use it as much though.

This time I found a monitor that can be used with ipad but I forgot what it's called. Been meaning to set it up.

I used the angelcare movement and sound monitor with DS and had no problems with it. I'm using the sound bit at the moment but will stop when DD is born and use both for her.

Anyone familiar with the brand "summer"? There were a few monitors at Snugglebugz by that brand.

We used Dropcam, a bit pricier than some of the basic monitors ($150-200) but I really liked it since I could check on my son on my cell phone and computer, even when I was at work. (We had a nanny so had a few of these installed around the house so I could see why my was was up to during the day and not feel so isolated from him when I went back to work when he was 8months old). Highly recommend these!

We had a VTECH one...then DH dropped it and it broke. I returned it and bought a cheaper one realizing we don't need anything fancy. I want to say it was a Summer brand one but I could be mistaken.

I'm another fan of the angelcare movement and sound monitor. We had a tommee tippee one previous to that but the alarm kept going off several times a night. It didn't seem to detect baby x

I will be using a baby monitor with a screen so we can see baby, I am only going with this tho as my sister in law is giving us one and they seem very good xx
