H has for the last 3 nights started to feed really close together in the evenings, feeding at 6 ish, 8/9 ish then 11 ish. He's on 5oz and has either a full bottle or 4oz each feed.

We got to bed last 2 nights at midnight and he's slept through until 5am then through till about 8:30am.

Have had a read up on the net and think he's cluster feeding, but not sure as I thought this was only the case with breastfed babies and he's formula fed???

What do we think? Do you think he's gearing up for going a bit longer during the night?

I don't know about it being called a cluster feed but he is probably going through a growth spurt now and just wants more and I think around that age my son was sleeping better through the night but I breastfed him at that age so I dont know how different it would be, but hopefully he should continue sleep better like that. Hope this helps a little. :)

my hv said it was cluster feeding and that although it is primarily a bf baby thing, ff babies can cluster feed too

Lana is on 6 oz bottles and in the evenings she will have 3 bottles about 2-2.5 hours between them, she goes down anywhere between 11 and 12, but her last feed could be 8/9pm then she wakes at 4/5 and is only taking 4oz so i think the night feed is on its way out x

Mirren started doing this at about 4 weeks, she would go 3 hourly then suddenly she would have a bottle at 4pm, 6pm, 8pm, 9.30pm then sleep til 1am. Now she has 3pm, 6pm, 8.30pm (bed) then 4am, then 7.30am.

Evie has done the same since she was about your LO's age. She'll go around 2 hours between feeds but only in the evening. She crams in her feeds cos she'll go to bed at 10ish and go thru till about 7am then have a nice big feed when she wakes up, then sleep again for another couple of hours

william started doing this he would space his feeds out in the day and have them closer together in the evening he also started to sleep a little longer at night too but this may be a coincidence i guess

well Lana fed last night at 5.30 (6oz), 8pm (6oz) and 10.15pm (4oz) - she settled by about 11.30pm and woke at 4am, but she only took 3oz before crashing out until 7.30am so i think she is quite close to dropping the night feed *touches lots of wood*

hope it is the case that she's dropping the night feed Suzi!
Last night he had 5 oz at 6pm, 9pm, 12.30 then slept through till 7am! :) then he had 5oz at 7:30am and went back off till 10.30am! with a bit of luck he might do the same tonight!

i'm so glad you asked this! For the past few days my LO too has been what seems like cluster feeding in the evening - during the day she goes about 3 hours between food and takes about 4 - 5 oz but in the evening she has a bottle at 5, 7, 9 and 10.30 (ish) and then settles for the night about 11.30 but then sleeps through till about 7 usually! xxx

My LO seems to do this in the morning. For example this morning he had 1oz at 8.30, another 1.5oz at 9.30, then another 2ozs at 10.30. xx
