Anyone got a comfort feeding problem? Or overcome one? Caitlyn feeds during the night and I'm so sure it's just for comfort. She won't take a dummy so I'm not sure what to do. Do I just let her continue or do I try weaning her off the night feeds?

i have a comfort feeding problem even during the day! all i can suggest is putting in the pacci and trying to get it in before she starts to cry, i find that if hes more awake he wont take it.

She won't even take it when she's half asleep, she screams and screams as soon as it's in her mouth! I've tried everything, even giving her it to play with. She hates them!!

I had a major problem with Kaya doing this. While we co-slept I just left her to it because Barry had to get up for work and didn't need waking up. In the end I waited until she went in her own room (10 months or so), that said if I'd been sleeping alone I would have done it sooner and kept her in bed with me. It's quite literally a matter of tanking up on feeding through the day, with a good feed before you go to bed. When she wakes up say not this time and just lying there holding a screaming baby lol. Remember that there's a difference with letting them cry it out alone and letting your child cry in your arms. Usually they give up and go back to sleep quite quickly (5-10 mins). When I did it I started with saying that I would feed right before her bedtime, at 11pm (when I went to bed) at 3am and 6am. This helped me avoid discomfort and a wet bed lol.

I would say that at Caitlyn's age you could keep a couple of feeds but the rest of the time just try to settle her in other ways - I found that just holding Kaya to stop her wriggling and being completly quiet and un-interesting worked. Wear a top that's hard for her to lift and prepare for a few sleepless nights, it does settle down after a bit.

I sleep topless just so I don't have to shuffle about so much  I'm soooo naughty with it but I'll do anything to get some sleep

lol its more convenient to sleep topless when breastfeeding.

Hi there just lurking hope you dont mind, just wanted to say that when mine were babies ,still feeding throughout the night, but I did not sleep top less, she could smell me a mile off! so I did cover up,and we did co share untill she was 3yrs so quite late I suppose. It is virtually impossible to co sleep without breastfeeding on demand..go with what you feel is best, not what others advice you...you only get this time once...good luck:hugs:

We had that problem and we've managed to solve it but only by giving him formula before bed and he doesnt tend to wake through the night anymore... sorry that might not be any help. Its really difficult though when theyre waking 6-7 times a night :( Hope it gets better soon

xxx

I lay on my side in a spooning position with my daughter on her side facing me n suckling my breast and my hubz spoons me from the back...we r all comfortable cuz he gets to hold his favorite two girls and i get to nurse in bed n bond..

 thats so cute!

Well I wore a top last night, and instead of attatching herself every hour she just cuddled me. She wanted a feed twice which seems more NORMAL than every hour!

I'm happy :)

I always wear my nursing bra and a top, so Bren has always feed as I though the should. Now at 6 months he only nurses every 3-4 hours at night.

Thats brilliant - well done the 2 of you! It's amazing how a little tweak to the norm can make such a huge difference.
