I've seen mixed information online about these, I think I'm coming down with a horrible cold and have my theory driving test on Fri morning.

Do you think it would be ok to just take the tablets once before my test so I feel better/can concentrate during it? It can't surely cause harm if taken once can it?

I really can't fail this test but find colds make my concentration go all funny!

I didnt think you were allowed cold remedies? You should ask your MW hunny x

i think its the caffine content in the tablets that they dont like. i'd imagine one wouldnt harm you but i wouldnt take my word for it! maybe try some more natural remedies like mentol crystals and hot water to unblock the nose and honey and lemon for the sore throat and make sure your well hydrated.

Ive been having a horrible cold and cough.. My doctor said i can take the regular doses of robitissen dm

im feeling the same at the mo. I was told to just have honey & lemon in hot water to sooth my throat and have a couple of paracetamol (dont take too many though!).

Try some vitamin C, I dont think cold flu tablets are allowed :( hope u feel better soon! xx

You'll have to check that with mw as I bought vit c tabs but they have on there to check first if your pregnant.....

Yes, my dr ok'd robitussin dm as well, along with tylenol and benadryl. Also, sucrets and cepacol... I've been taking some sucrets and they seem to help.
And I was surprised how much regular tylenol seems to make me feel better.
But yeah, I would check with your dr or mw before you take anything.

How many is too many? :/ apart from more than it says on the pack! You've got me worried now, I thought paracetamol were fine, as they're the only thing we are allowed I've been taking them for a migraine every few hours for the last few days. I've gone as long as I can between tablets but its as though the second the four hours between doses is up my head switches right back to agony mode. I've had three days off work already and must go back tomorrow. I'm sat with a pounding head now wondering if I've done anything bad taking them

Make sure you don't take any more than 8 a day. My doctor told me to try and avoid them as much as possible even though they're the only thing we're allowed. Kind of annoying I've managed to only have taken them 4 times since being pregnant. Probably will be taking them again before my driving theory test just to make me feel a bit normal if this cold continues!

I'm sure your baby is fine though, I think paracetemol is quite bad for your liver and all your organs are under more stress when pregnant so just better to cut down.

Thanks, gutted, it really depresses me that I have some magic migraine tablets in my drawer that I know for a fact make me feel great lol and I wouldn't have had to have 3 days off work!! Ah well! I'm sure baby appreciates it :)

That's ok, I try not to be awake long enough for that many heehee x

I had a cold to kick off my first tri and low and behold, I'm kicking off the second tri the same exact way!

My doctor said Vitamin C drops were okay and would help relieve my sore throat. She also said Theraflu was okay and that has been really helping me. Just follow the instructions for both so you don't take to much.

Yeah my dr said 2 paracetamol 4 times a day, so no more than 8 in a day.

You know, you would think with all the stuff that's in our vitamins, they'd keep colds away, huh?
I have been in the habit of popping a little too much tylenol from time to time... no more than what the directions say, but I have to remind myself... The safe list my dr gave me says "IF ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY" at the top... I have to take it out and remember not to go overboard. :)

I would steer clear. I've never known cold and flu medicine to be safe to take during pregnancy, and would it really be worth risking? In my last pregnancy I was getting a cough and cold every single month without fail. I was told I couldn't take anything because there are other ingredients in those products that are considered unsafe. That's why you hear of women on here complaining that they have cold/flu and they can't take anything for it. I used to just overdose on hot water with honey and lemon

I took my thoery test last week with a horrible migraine. I have had migraines since I was 14 and am normally on prescription medication for them because they're so bad, but I can't take those pills during pregnancy, so they're worse than usual. I took my theory and I passed despite the migraine. You can do it hon; have faith in yourself

Yeah think I'm just going to have to be a soldier!! It's not worth the risk really, i probably wouldn't be able to concentrate at the test as i'd be worried about my baby.
So instead I phoned in sick to work today and did extra revision. I hope I pass!

Hi cold and flu remedies are not allowed. Paracetamol is ok, two tablets four times a day, space them out 4-6 hourly and a maximum of 8 in 24 hours. Depending in your exact symptoms, you can do steam inhalation, salt water nasal drops, gargling with salt water, warm water with honey and lemon, some sore throats lozenges. Check with your pharmacist.
Get well soon and good luck with the test!
