I got a tub to use for cold water sterlilising with tablets for bits and pieces (not bottles) but after seeing that the box says solutionmay bleach, I did think I'm not sure if I wanted to sterilise using that method. Would boiling water put in the tub sterilise things like teethers & dummies without solution?

i have a dummy tree you just put little water in bottom and microwave for 60 secs..dunno if its big enough for teethers tho :/

you could boil in a pan on a hob for 10-15 minutes or some of the cold water sterilisers are microwave sterilisers also

Hi, I’m from Milton, we’re the experts in cold water sterilising so we thought we would give you some more information.

Cold water sterilising has been used for over 60 years by mums and midwives. It’s often popular with mums as the method can also be used when you are travelling or out and about too.

The solution is safe - when it comes into contact with protein (e.g. Milk in your baby’s bottle), Milton Sterilising Fluid breaks down to just WATER and tiny traces of salt. This makes it safe for your baby and it has been especially formulated to disinfect all accessories that come into contact with your baby’s mouth – from bottles to their favourite teething toy! You don’t need to worry about rinsing your baby’s bottles or utensils after removing them from the solution and it can be kept for up to 24 hours so you can keep putting things in through the day and night and take them out when you need them.

I hope this makes things a bit clearer about how cold water sterilising works!

I used Milton tablets on holiday recently... we just filled the bathroom sink, measured cold water and popped a tablet in.... done in 15 minutes. We used it for bottles and would definately use again as soooo easy.

xx

Hiya, thanks very much! I guess it was all the chemicals in the tablets that put me off but I did do a bit more research after i wrote this post & did buy a Milton cold water steriliser in the end!
