Colostrum at 8 weeks!

Okay no joke! Was in the shower yesterday and noticed that I had a semi-liquid, semi-crusty yellow/white liquid coming out from both nipples. My boobs are HUGE now and the nipples very dark with those weird gland/bump things all over them. My friend actually warned me that I might be getting colostrum around now because I told her my boobs felt like they were going to explode (especially the left one, which is the one that had a little bit more come out of it) and she said to try to see if I could squeeze any out to relieve the pressure. As they were so painful I was like, "I am NOT squeezing my nipples!" Lol, but yeah, it totally started to leak out a teeny tiny bit yesterday! I looked it up on the Big G (oogle) and apparently it is possible to get colostrum leakage this early. Anyone else having this going on?

Also, I've been wearing a bright solid pink bra and have not been wearing anything white, so this definitely is not trapped white/yellow lint in my nipples lol.

Wow that's early! Last time I didn't start leaking until around 28 weeks. I hope I don't start leaking for a long time because I'm so not ready for nursing pads again!

I think I was 15 weeks when I started getting it with my first pregnancy. Midway through I was leaking buckets at night in bed it was insane! Now im still breastfeeding so don't have to worry about that!

Lol yeah I thought my friend was crazy when she suggested it might be colostrum until I saw it and I was like, "That can't be anything else." It HURTS! Like it feels like my breasts are going to explode, especially the left one. Is that normal?

Wow! Crazy! Is this your first? It's my first I am actually up right now because my breasts hurt so bad. I need a maternity bra because the one I'm wearing is too tight and hurts, but it hurts more if I wear nothing lol. Do you find your breasts are really painful? Like feeling like they're going to explode? Maybe I should squeeze some out... Hmm lol, I hesitate to even touch them because they hurt so much.

No it's my third but ya mine are hurting like you say ouchy

Mine came in at 14 weeks and my boobs swelled, itched, and burned for a week or so while my body adjusted. Hopefully it'll make bf after delivery a bit easier.

I wouldn't squeeze it out. Nipple stimulation can kick start labor....

It only jump starts labor if your body and baby are ready, just like anything else.

However, you don't want to mess with them all the time because it can clog ducts and introduce bacteria. If you get waxy plugs, leave them alone as well so you don't leak.

Hey thanks for the advice! I have been getting those waxy plugs... I think that's all I've had so far, actually! Sorry this is TMI, but it sits right inside the nipple like lava that didn't make it all the way out of a volcano and cooled lol. I did unfortunately pick it out while I was in the shower. I think I leaked last night while I was sleeping but I'm not sure because I was half asleep. From now all, I'll leave the ladies alone! UGH yes like you said though, itchy, burning, and you didn't say this but mine feel like they're going to explode as well. That part might be because my bra is now a bit too small and smothering them. I need a maternity bra STAT!

I'm actually jealous! haha I had an impossible time with DD trying to get the colostrum out! I wish I had started filling up before hand - I reckon you'll have an easier time at trying to bf if you're leaking this early! I desperately hope I can with this one!

I don't know too much about this but I hope it's a good sign for me for bf in the future and I hope that yours comes in easier this time! I'm nervous about bf because I want to make sure that I can feed my baby no fail when she comes and the thought of her crying and crying and not being able to breastfeed is so stressful to me! I'm going to have a breast pump for sure just in case.

I brought it up with my doc when I started going to appointments and they said it was fine and nothing to worry about. And it is my first baby. And since about halfway through my 2nd tri I've had to hand express some in the shower at least once a week otherwise I'll start leaking in my sleep, and I am still solidly pregnant at 38 weeks, so if you need to release some it's not too big of a deal as long as you don't over do it.

That's good to know! I'm still afraid to just because of the pain involved right now lol, though maybe it would be better? OH tried to touch them in his sleep last night and I really abruptly grabbed his hand and threw it away from myself as a reaction lol, they are so tender!

They're going to be tender anyway with it being so early, but the pressure could also contribute. I know when I don't express it'll build up and my breasts will be sore, once I express a little the pressure relieves a little bit and they won't hurt as bad as before.
