Hi,

I had a breast reduction about 6 years ago which has unfortunately led me to have to combination feed my son. I am able to express about 2 bottles for him a day (he had latching problems although he has started latching in the last couple of evenings :happydance:) and he has formula for the rest of his feeds.

He currently has 3-4oz of Formula per feed and I have been giving him the same amount for the bottles of breastmilk he has - is this correct? Should I be giving him more - is breastmilk higher or lower in calories? Just don't want him to go hungry!

Also, is there a better time of day to give the breastmilk? I've been giving it to him mid morning and early afternoon.

Thanks in advance for any advice :flower:

breastmilk and formula are roughly the same in calories if you're looking at the breastmilk mid feed; but I have read that the hindmilk right at the end is more calorific and fatty than formula, not sure by how much though xx
