Combined test - so worried

Hey,

We had our scan on Tuesday and baby was looking good with heart beating away but NT was a bit high at 2.4 and now with blood tests etc our risk for Down's is 1:78. I think we are going to go for CVS next week but I am completely in pieces. Anyone else going through this at the moment?

hi hun, im not going through it at the moment but i have been through it, and know exactly how you feel

we had a nuchal of 3.0 and with bloods brought our risk to 1:35 for downs.

we decided not to do any invasive testing just had more detailed scans to check heart and organs etc.

rhys is 10 months old now and wasnt born with downs syndrome or any other chromosmal abnormalities.

28 weeks of not knowing is sheer hell, but i wasnt prepared to risk miscarrying my baby.

if your prepared to look after a child with downs then i wouldnt recommend testing any further as it doesnt really matter, however if you dont think you could look after a child with downs then maybe testing is for you.

Hiya, thanks for your message! I feel a little calmer today. We have decided to go for the tests, both of us feel this is the right thing to do. Also our consultant has never had a miscarriage after doing it so we feel confident. Your son is beautiful! Thanks for sharing your story! X

hi honey i have just had same thing mine 1 in 6 as nuchal fold is 4.10mm and im 41 so we also have the test next week on tues morning at st georges hospital x

im at st georges in tooting. im trying not to worry as that what help. i looked on my scan report and it said head brain heart and spine are all normal so im trying to keep positive with that info. would you like to keep in touch as we are due same time and going through the same thing x sylv x

Hi as I posted in another thread my Nt measurement was 6.8mm, got the triple test results back on Friday and I'm 1 in 85 so we are having the CVS done on Thursday. Good luck Ladies will pop in to see how evryone is doing xxx

Hi, just wanted to say good luck to everyone with the CVS & scans - I just had CVS for 1 in 7 risk of Down's and can empathise with you waiting for CVS, it's nervewracking. Hope it all goes well and that your results are fine. (I had 2.5NT but high HCG 2.75MoM). My initial results came out ok (for Trisomy 13,18,21) but I get the full results this week...

Well, had my CVS this morning. It went relatively well I think - well no problems as yet. Have to wait for my initial results on Friday now - seems like forever!!

Hey ladies, when I was pregnant with Evie I didn't have the DS screening and then after 3 scans around the 20 week mark they couldn't see a nasal bone and she had a nuchal thickness of 9mm! Decided not to have an amnio. Evie was born absolutely fine (a chubby girl at 9lbs 3oz which could explain the thickness - fat neck!) so just trying to give a little reassurance as not knowing was so upsetting and any good stories people had really helped me through it Remember these tests are just for screening and it could be nothing! well had the test yesterday was uncomftable but its over. they did a very detailed scan and saw a nasal bone which i gather is a good sign. hopefully get results back on friday so not too long to wait. and these great stories have given me hope x

well just to let you all know i got my initial results today and everything is good!!
so now just waiting for rest of results and have to have a heart scan on the 14th to check for heart defects. x

Great news minty peas.
Had my CVS test done yesterday very uncomfortable at times but the consultant was great, she did a very detailed scan and checked everything the best she could including the nasal bone and heart, nt measurement has gone down by 1mm, so at least it hadn't increased just gotta wait for the results now.
Think I'm gonna have to wait til monday because of the weekend
