Ok so I've been happily using c&g comfort for the past few months. When I made the initial swap from normal formula to comfort I had to change the teats on my dr brown bottles to no2 as as you know the milk is kinda thicker so wouldn't go through the newborn teats. Anyways yesterday I purchased a tommee tippee perfect prep machine. What a bloody nightmare! Seems like the hot water it dispenses isn't enough to properly dissolve the powder-- even stirring in with spoon. And it just won't come through the teat, either that or it stops and starts. Anyways baby currently drinking a bottle made up the old fashioned way using a good old kettle. Anyone else have this problem?... Any advice?

Have you got the dr browns travel caps? I use these to shake the milk and its fine.

Yeh and I did that but it put so much bubbles in the milk that after baby drank it he vomited the whole lot up on burping him!! And he's maybe only been sick like that 3 times ever!

i swirl the bottle after every couple of scoops so its dissolved by the time you add the rest of the water.

How many ounces are you ladies making up? And are u also using size2 teats?

well i cheated. my lo wouldnt take to the dr browns teats. so i use mam anti colic ones and i use size 2. jo difference in the flow as far as i can see. i am making 6 or 7oz bottles atm.

So (sorry I'm a pest just desperate to use the machine right!) u put two scoops in, swirl, two scoops, swirl etc?

yup. I found if i swirled after one scoop then the water cooled down and it was more difficult to mix. comfort milk is a pain in the arse. they dontvdo cartons either so feeding out of the house is a right faff and it turned my babys poo green!

I used Dr Brown's bottles with comfort and the perfect prep and had no problems I'd just do the hot shot, add the powder then kind of swirl it around then add the rest of the water and give it a proper shake

I used all 3 before change back to stage 1 aptimil from the comfort milk. From what I gather they are the same. I did find sometimes the comfort wouldn't mix quite right, it really does need that shake. I used to make it 5/10 mins before he would eat to let the bubbles settle back down x

Our speech therapist told us it's fine to shake the Dr. Brown's bottles because of the way the valve works. With other bottles, we had to swirl it but the Dr. Brown's wasn't a problem. Best to let it sit a minute or 2 though as it needs to thicken. :flower:

I use size 1 teats. I put dentinox in her milk so after I've shaken it, the dentinox takes all the bubbles out so its completely flat.

How are you ladies storing your bottles before use? We are sterilising them, putting them together and leaving them on the side until LO is ready for a feed... Then disassemble again to make the feed...? This seems a little iffy to me but I don't know how else to do it??

I love the perfect prep machine and I also use it in combination with dr browns which are amazing bottles.

My LO is hardly ever sick (twice since birth in fact) I've put it down to the body temp of the milk? Think when heating them yourself your tempted to make them warm, wonder if this is what upsets so many babies tummies? Body temp seems perfect for my LO

Well ladies I combined all your advice-- I swirl after every 2 scoops, then good shake after they're all in. Then sit it on side for a couple of mins till bubbles settle and I've had no more problems so thank you all!!
Lylasmummy I leave mine in the steriliser till I'm ready to use them and build them as I need them. Only put them together in advance if I'm going out so I can take them with me xxx

Ahh glad it's working :hugs:

I also leave mine in the steriliser and only pre out together when going out. I usually dial the pp to 4oz and take a flask with boiling water to top up to 6oz then add the powder. I find it mixes well that way too plus solves the whole only being able to keep a pre made bottle for 2 hrs issue

X

I also keep them in the steraliser and just take out and assemble when needed.

How do you guys feed when out. my lo is 10 weeks and i have never fed her out but just boughy two flasks. i was planning on using one for hot and one for filtered cool water. can i just use the hot shot from the prep machine in one and the cool water from the prep machine in the other. seems like a really easy way to do it rather than boiling the kettle etc.

I just take my flask of hot water and mix as needed. I mix it half an hour before I think he'll need it so it's cool in time or I ask wherever I am for cold water to sit it in to cool. I feed him out all the time never had a problem xxx

I have two flasks... One with hot water, and one with cool boiled water.

We're on 5oz bottles so I put 2oz of hot in the bottle I'm going to use, then add the powder and swirl then add 3oz of cool boiled. It's exactly the same way as the machine, you just have to take 2 flasks and your bottles out!
