So it seems people like to comment on my size while pregnant. It may be happened with my others but I don't remember it. I am bigger this time but it's our 3rd to make it this far. My husbands grandmother was joking saying I got fat since last she saw me (it's been a few months). My dad said I am really big for 21 weeks and a random stranger asked me at 18 weeks if I was ready to pop :( I know the first was a joke and nobody means it to be mean but it's got me self conscious and a bit down. Anyone else getting these comments?? I work out, am active and mostly eat healthy although I fail sometimes lol

Yep! My mil told me it looks like its going to be a big baby. Then my sister tells me im to skinny. I can do no right and i have no real idea of whats normal for this far along.

Sigh. I guess we should try to ignore people. They will always have opinions. BTW.. I had a pretty big bump with my last and she was only 6 lbs 12 Oz.. Don't worry :flower: I'm sure your bump and baby are just right. It's so hard not to listen to others though.

As hard as it is ignore those comments - people always feel the need to make comment. Some people are well meaning but it comes across nasty....and others are just plain nasty! I was so big at the end with my daughter and went 8 days over due so I got all the beached whale comments - we live by the beach and I was pregnant in summer!!! She was a big baby...I'm interested to see what I look like at the end with this baby girl, since my husband and I are such small people was a shock to have a big long baby :)

I am having the opposite! I am a bit chubby but not fat normally and every time I look at things in shops people are assuming its for someone else! When I say I am 19 weeks I get the comment 'you dont look pregnant - are you sure there is one in there'. Its getting tiring now...

Yep. I know that feeling, had it a lot with my 2nd. No one is trying to hurt your feelings but i wish they would realize it does. Ever since i had all those comments with my 2nd even if i do think someone has a big pregnant tummy i just say what a beautiful bump.

I get the opposite! From other mums when I'm doing school runs so surely they'd know already how annoying it is!

It is draining - I've been told since 12 weeks that I'm not very big. Ok, fine - but when my bump measurements then measure 2 weeks behind I am panicking. I have a totally standard growth scan this afternoon and I am terrified that something is wrong :(

I find it frustrating that anyone ever feels that it is necessary to comment on anyone's weight in any circumstance. Find the comments continue after pregnancy about whether you have or haven't lost the pregnancy weight. It's deadly annoying and quite frankly rude. Grrr

My FIL likes to sometimes mention how huge I got with my daughter. Then pulls out his phone and shows me pics when I was 40 weeks with her to show me just how huge I was.

I just shake it off. I'm 16 weeks now and just waiting to see what he'll have to say when I'm further along with this one.

I'm so sorry you all are having the same thing. Even for an opposite problem :hugs:

Nikie please let us know how it goes. I'm sure everything is totally fine! If only people knew how much a comment can start worry.

Kitchenware, you're right! It's terrible. I don't remember pregnancy comments with my first but 2 weeks after I had him, my dad teased me about still wearing maternity jeans. I went to another room and cried. I felt horrible. He doesn't get it. He said there is a lady at his work too that is pregnant and he teased her about eating too many doughnuts. I'm kinda thinking he should quit talking to pregnant women or anyone who is at had a baby lol

Mrs Bee, I'm so sorry. I don't get why once we get pregnant we are suddenly open to be talked about or get comments that would otherwise be completely rude. Hope you don't have to go 8 days over due this time but for comfort reasons :)

Angelmum31, ugh.. That stinks. I'm sorry :hugs: one morning you will wake up to a noticeable bump.. Sometimes it just takes time. Until then, people should keep their mouths shut.

Misscalais, that's so sweet you do that! I know it must really make them feel good! I often wonder why it's assumed our feelings won't be hurt by things said.. If anything, with extra hormones around my feelings get hurt more easily lol

Tasha, that's terrible! We all have different shapes and bumps and that is what makes us individuals and beautiful. I keep telling myself that and it's true. One day we will have our beautiful babies in our arms and this stuff won't matter. Unfortunately today, it Does lol I hope they quit giving you a hard time :hugs:

Michcuc, wow...i have to say that seems a bit rude of your fil but that's great you can shake it off!

I'm thinking I need a shirt now "my bump is not up for discussion" :haha:

I can sympathise.. I think people think it's ok
To say things when your pregnant!

My mil told me this baby will
Be at least 10lb and a nice big girl like she is!?!!! Those were her words!

This is my bump at 24 weeks..

Awwww it's such a cute bump! You smaller than me and I'm 2 weeks behind you :haha: really.. You don't look that big. It looks perfect! And like I mentioned, I had a huge bump by the end with my last and she was only 6 lbs 12 Oz so many times, the size of the bump wouldn't determine the size of baby. :)

It's 50/50 for me.

Some people say I'm huge. Others say I'm small. I'm bigger than I was first time round without doubt but to some I'm still not big enough.

I honestly have no idea where I'm at bump wise because the ideal bump size chart obviously got lost in the post and I've not yet received it!

My partner likes to call me "fatty" 😐. I know it's a joke but I want to punch him when he does.
But I've the comments off strangers "ohh you're small" "you look like you're about to drop".
I've learnt to ignore the strangers xx

This will be my fourth baby, and I get bigger each time. I looked like I was pregnant with twins the first time, and by the third time, I looked like
Kate Gosselin when she was pregnant with 6. Lolllll. Not quite, but huge. I don't see the comments as a negative thing. A big belly means I'm giving my baby plenty of space in there to grow and enjoy their time in the womb. I am happy to look pregnant and have a huge belly, even if I do look like a Sumo wrestler at almost 19 weeks along. ;)

I am getting a lot of big belly comments, but I actually love them, I've battled so hard with my weight and shape over the years, it's lovely to have my chub (and it is at least 50% fat still I'm sure!) commented on in a positive way. I'm still bloating really bad though, so it changes size all the time and people often comment on that too, I just laugh with them. Maybe I won't love my big bump as much in a few months, but for now, I adore it, bring on the comments!

Thanku!xx

I really think bumps come in all shapes and sizes.. Not sure that it's really a great indication of baby size.. Only time will tell ;))

At my baby shower when I was pregnant with ds, they did the "Guess how big the bump is" with the string. Everyone cut a piece of string to guess how big around I was and EVERYONE guessed I was at least 6 inches to a foot bigger around than I really was. It was a little insulting. Another thing that got me down is my half sister's father commented on a picture of me that my sister posted saying, "She's pregnant?! You guys are growing up too fast" and my sister replied with, "No she's just fat." In reality all of the comments are all in good fun, but our hormones make it seem like it's more than it is. Bottom line is no one should ever comment on a preggo lady's size, but it's going to happen.

That was me two weeks before popping with my DS who was 10lbs 3oz and a head so big it was C-Section or bust. I definitely received a lot of comments, a lot of them were pretty cruel, at least to me - especially at that horse show. One asshat had the nerve to ask "who's showing who?". I just let it roll.
