complete previa & placenta with extra lobe

So I was diagnosed with complete placenta previa at 20 weeks. At that time they told me that only the edge of my placenta was covering the cervical opening. I have some blood vessels near the cervical opening too, but have not had any bleeding.

Today, at 28+ weeks, they said I still have a complete previa, but while most of my placenta is posterior, it has an extra lobe that is anterior. I think this is the part that is covering the cervical opening.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience and if so, anything I need to ask about? They said I do NOT have vasa previa at this time, although they will recheck at 34 weeks. If I have bleeding, they'll schedule a c-section for 36 week, but if not they want to do it at 38 weeks. Does that seem late?? I am seeing an OB who seems to specialize in high risk, do you think I need to see any other specialist?

Thanks!

hey hun, I was just wondering how everything went? I have just been diagnosed with posterior CPP and it's difficult finding stories about it xx

I had a planned c-section with my regular OB (although she was a department head, so pretty experienced) at 37w6d. No complications, and everything went smoothly. I never did have bleeding or other symptoms, and as it turned out my placenta had 3 lobes, so pretty unusual. It was one of he extra lobes that covered my cervix. I was told here is no reason to expect this to happen again if I have another pregnancy, and that I'm a good candidate for a vbac if I want. I don't plan to have more kids, so not a big deal to me, but great that everything was uncomplicated. They had lots of people in the room in case of complications, and scheduled me early in their shift so everyone would be rested for the procedure, but everything went smoothly.

I won't share the details of my story as it will only serve to concern you and what happened to me was very rare. My advice is, take it very easy, don't strain yourself at all and if you have any bleeding, no matter how small, get it checked out.
