I posted this in the "Trying to Conceive" forum. I probably should have posted it on this forum. Sorry about this mods!:flower:

Hello everyone,

I hope someone here can help me. I will try to explain as best as I can! Last year we found out I had a Polyp after doing a HSG, its a rather large polyp and was told that could be the reason for past MC's. We were living abroad at the time and actually set up an appointment to get it removed but due to a communication problem with the hospital and our RE's clinic, the appointment was cancelled ( this was November "10, found out about the polyp in August 10"). Now we are back in the UK, I have met with the doctor and he sent me in for a US and a transvaginal US before setting me up with any type of surgery for it to be removed. The doctor also saw the results from my HSG clearly showing a large polyp.

So, I went in for the US and after searching and prodding, there was no polyp to be found. The Sonographer was very confused, all she found was a very small fibroid, but no polyp at all, mind you from my HSG, this polyp that I have, its on the large side so I am totally confused to why it was not detected. I did some research though and have read that sometime Polyps will not show on Ultra sounds, the best way to detect them is by having a HSG, hysteroscopy or a SHG ( scan with saline).

Does anyone have any advice for me? I am in at the end of the month to see the doctor again, I am not sure what he is going to tell me to do now, I have the results of the HSG, showing the polyp and its size which he has seen and obviously he will have the lastest US result. I was sent in for this scan because the doctor wanted to look at it again, check its size and position before getting it removed and now with it not showing up on the scans, I dont' know if he will go ahead and do more tests or just send me home? My last MC was really my worst one, I got hit with major depression and it was one of the worst times of my life, I do not want to try again knowing that I could possibly go through another MC. Sorry to ramble on, I am so confused right now, any advice or help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Sorry, no idea. My polyp was seen on ultrasound and removed. I hope they come up with something for you. x

Thank you for your reply! I hope you don't mind me asking but was your polyp large or small? and was it on your uterus wall? From my HSG last year, the doctor said the polyp covered a third of my Uterus. I wonder why the US could not detect it.

Oooh, that's a question...I can't remember. It wasn't that big, but it was in a really bad place, exactly where they said a baby would implant which is why they removed it. They were then 'sure' I would get pregnant. No such bloody luck! Anyway, I hope your mystery is solved soon. My acupuncturist did talk about things like that spontaneously going, or being cured with Chinese herbs, but I'm a little sceptical about that...what does your Dr say now?

I am in to see the doctor at the end of the month, so I will have to wait then. I am anxious to meet him, with the scans all coming back normal I don't know what will be the next route we take. If yours was small and they could see it with the scan, I wonder why they can't see my big one. Sorry you are still trying after getting it removed, you must feel frustrated about it. I am not too sure myself about Chinese herbs, I have heard about it but like you I am a little sceptical. I hate not knowing, I just know the next few weeks are going to drag on...

2 years ago I had an US that detected something like a cyst and I went in for a hysteroscopy where they have a look with a camera- the doc also said he would then remove it if possible so I went under General anasthetic. I don't know why they couldn't see your polyp but you could try asking a hysteroscopy

Thanks for your reply! Love your name! I am going to see what the doc has to say at the end of the month, only met with the nurse when I did my 2 scans. She detected a small fibroid, but other than that all was clear, so will have to see what happens next. I really hate waiting and not knowing ...:-(

It certainly is a mystery. Found this rather concise article on Google - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19524890
Hope that linke works... I'm not very good at this stuff! Hopefully you just got lucky and it spontaneously got rid of itself!

Thank you for sending me the link! Very interesting! I really don't know what to think at the moment, so confusing and just mentally tiring if you know what I mean? And the doctor's visit seems soooooooooooo far away right now. I love your puppy, so adorable!

hee hee, he was our IVF insurance policy and pulled us through when we lost our little bean. He's not a puppy now though, he's a bloody huge monster! I keep the puppy avatar cos it's so cute! Let me know what the doc says, won't you x
