Confused about ultrasound following miscarriage

Hey, ladies. This is my first time posting on anything like this but I'm so lost right now and I really need answers or at least support.

I miscarried on March 17th and bled for about four days. I was advised to wait three cycles before ttc again, but due to my husband being a military man, our time together is limited (for now!) so we started trying as soon as the bleeding stopped. I went to the doctor for my checkup and the ultrasound tech seemed very rushed and anxious to get the appointment over with. None of my questions were answered, but she made some comments that were strange to me and I just don't know how to interpret it all. First, she asked if I had to go to the bathroom and made a comment under her breath about my bladder, but wouldn't elaborate. She also said that it looked like I might be about to start AF. She also seemed surprised when I told her I was already testing negative on tests. (I've developed a slight obsession with taking pregnancy tests.)

I've also had crazy bad cramps and bloating, as well as very thick and sticky clear discharge. I've been nauseous and lost my appetite (the appetite loss started with my last pregnancy, stopped, and has recently started again.)

Now I'm wondering if I might actually be starting my period so soon, or if there's a chance that I'm in the very early stages of a new pregnancy. My husband will be permanently home in about three months but losing the last pregnancy (my first) has made me so anxious to conceive right away! I just need some advice. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

I'm sorry for your loss.

They usually want you to empty your bladder, especially for an internal scan. As you've not had a period since your miscarriage she is probably surprised you have started testing, that doesn't mean you couldn't get pregnant before af but following a miscarriage it's difficult to know when/ and if you ovulate before af.

All the best x

Sorry for your loss :(

My m/c was also on March 17 but I haven't tested so I can't tell you if I am still getting positives or not. How many weeks were you? I don't think she can just assume you would still get positives, your HCG may have dropped before your miscarriage so it could easily be out of your system already.

They say to expect a period 4 - 6 weeks after the loss so you could have ovulated already and your period may arrive in a week (unless you are pregnant again). Your symptoms sound like they could be pms or early pregnancy related.

Good luck, I hope you find some answers soon.

Thank you ladies so much for your replies. I was 6 weeks along when I miscarried. My issue here is that I actually DIDNT have to use the bathroom... I mean,, maybe a little, but my bladder was nowhere near full. And I read somewhere that the uterine lining thickens in early pregnancy OR when AF is about to make an appearance. I guess I'm holding on to the hope that I'm already pregnant. If I am, I conceived 2 weeks ago. I have no idea when/if I ovulated, but I never do really. This is just so frustrating.

So sorry for your loss and I understand the want to be pregnant again ASAP! There is a possibility of you getting pregnant again before your next AF but I doubt and your ultrasound right after your mc would've have shown anything. If you ovulated about 2 weeks ago then you should get to testing soon! Can't wait to see your tests soon!! Praying for a BFP for you!

Thank you so much for your enthusiasm! It really help more than you know. I took a test this morning with a digital and it was negative :( According to my app tracker, AF isn't due for another five days, so maybe it's still too early or maybe I didn't ovulate when I think I did? Really not sure as I had no clue how long my cycle was because I stopped keeping track of putting my info into the app. Not to mention the miscarriage probably threw things off a bit. I'm driving myself crazy wondering about all this. :(

That's ok 5 days early is really early! You still have time for your positive! I think this cycle may be messed up for me as well as it is my first following my mc :( but I'm still hoping I ovulated on time and will be testing on the 20th!

I'm sorry for your loss, sweetheart :( I'm praying for your BFP! I want that for you as bad as I want mine, to be honest.

Update on the symptoms: I'm no longer cramping and bloating is a minimum. BUT I have developed a cold all of a sudden. Runny nose, sore throat, headache and congestion. Maybe I'm grasping at straws here, but I read that a lot of women get a cold shortly following conception! This is the first symptom I've had that I'm 100% sure it's not all in my head since I can't trick myself into thinking I have a runny nose, lol. We are just coming into spring, so it could be that. But, I did develop a pretty bad cold (it took me out of work for a week!) not too long ago, but I can't remember if it was before or after conception of my first pregnancy. Has anyone else ever developed a cold shortly following ovulation or conception?!

I was really sick during my second pregnancy. I developed an awful cold around week 5 (which was 2 weeks after ovulation- i have PCOS) and then at week 7 I had another cold.

hopefully this is good news for you :)

Well, I said I wasn't going to, but I tested again today and it's still a BFN :( My cold went away, it really only lasted about two days. I'm not stuffy anymore, but I'm still tired and have no appetite. I've decided to wait until I miss my period to test again. All I'm doing is stressing myself out by testing so obsessively.

And thank you for your input, Destiny08! If I'm pregnant, I'm two weeks past ovulation, too... So maybe the cold (as awful as it was) is a good sign!

Another big thanks to everyone replying and giving me advice on this thread. It feels nice to throw my thoughts out there to people that understand. I swear my best friend and husband both think I've lost my mind with the way I over analyze everything going on with my body at the moment. Y'all are awesome ❤️
