So went for my 3rd scan yesterday and saw the heartbeat .. god news.

Now I am rubbish with dates and I can't remember exactly when my last period was.. or when i ovulated.. etc..

But rough dates.. the doctor works me out to be 8/9 weeks (as they do from the beginning of your last period)

Scan shows - Just 7 weeks

Been spotting for 3 weeks and it's just stopped but a bit concerned..

Any advice?

Did your doctor not give you a due date? Glad you saw the little heart beat!

No haven't seen my doctor just been to the EPU - she said the 3rd March..but its early and I could have a scan at 12 weeks and have caught up ... she said it's all estimating..

You're due date is just a few days after mine, but I will only be 7 weeks tomorrow. However, I have PCOS and my cycles are long. I didn't ovulate until around day 27 of my cycle. In this case, my reproductive endocrinologist went by my positive ovulation test which was on June 5th.

How long are your cycles typically? Were you using ovulation tests or charting your temp to see exactly when you ovulated? If you don't have the classic 28 day cycle, with ovulation around day 14... then you may not be 8/9 weeks along. You may only be closer to 7 weeks.

I don't even have my first ultrasound until next Tuesday, so we're hoping to hear a heart beat since I'll be 7 weeks then. If you've had 3 scans and only just heard the heart beat... I'd bet you're closer to 7 weeks than 8/9 weeks. But like I said, that really depends on the length of your menstrual cycles. It really is important to know how long your cycles are. In my case, the doctors would have me at 9 weeks right now if we went on the date of my last period. A 2 week difference is enough to incite panic, especially if bleeding is involved.

Try really hard to remember something that happened while you were on your last period, something you would have a date for. Perhaps something big at work or maybe even a holiday or such. Sometimes that helps me if I can't exactly recall. With long cycles like mine, I started using Fertility Friend over 2 years ago. Even if I wasn't temp charting, I'd still always make sure to log my periods. When you're cycles are 40+ days, it's darn near impossible to remember!

Good luck!
