can anyone help us? i have had children previous with my late husband and have since remarried. i have children, my husband has none and because i was sterilized after my last son[10 years ago] we was advised to have ivf because reversal was not an option due to my tubes being burnt. my hubby has just been diagnosed with problems and advised on icsi too! what are the chances of us having a child of our own and because we both need help is it more of a problem? anyone have the answer as we have to wait for our next appt to ask all the Q's and im anxious.

I don't know why someone told you it wasn't an option for a reversal due to the coagulation and cauterzation. Mine were burnt as well and I had a sucessful reversal and I have had 4 pregnancies since (which ended in mc but that was due to age and nothing else as I am 38) If they are suggesting ICSI due to your hubby's situation, then maybe IVF would probably be the best route. I just wanted to let you know that just because your tubes are burnt, doen't mean you can't have a reversal. They were very wrong there. Just check out this site and you will see. https://www.tubal-reversal.net This is the doctor who did mine and he is fantastic! Good luck!

thanks for your reply jo. the reason is we live in the uk and my dr told us that the success rate for reversal is rather poor and the fact my husband has problems too would suggest icsi but what i want to know is how do normal people have icsi? i dont understand why im any different to others who have icsi cos i thought my sterilization would not be an issue if we use this method anyway? mmmmm i did say i was confused lol

Your tubes being burnt wouldn't pose an issue as they would do it the same as if you are doing IVF. The difference has to do with the sperm, not you. Now don't quote me on that as I am not 100% sure, but that is what I think. There are a lot of women on here that are doing ICSI and I am sure if you post something in reference to ICSI, one of those wonferful ladies will help you. Good luck! :hugs:
