Hello Ladies, Haven't been on here for a while, but knew this site would be the best to rant.

I had a phone call this morning from the gemini centre to say I have Chlamydia . Now I know this is easy to treat etc., but this is the third time of having it :growlmad:. So angry at myself! Had it once around Jan 10, tested again after that and i'm pretty sure it came back negative, tested about May 11 and I tested last week.
She said it could be the antibiotics have not been working the last few times and that's why I've tested positive again. I've been so careful and yet again I have it.
I've googled this and seen i could have Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. I've had pains down there when i'm not due on till next week. Had them on and off for a couple of weeks. I just hope it's not too late as I've heard it can lead to infertility and I would be heartbroken if i couldn't have children .
I've got an appointment at the sexual health clinic on Wednesday, i'm going to see what they think. I've got that gut feeling that i've caused serious damage

hey, it's okay, you don't know for sure until you're told! Good luck, and welcome back hun xxx

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) is not as scary as they make it out to be. If you have been tested regularly and treated for the chlamydia then there shouldn't be anything to panic about. I know you mentioned having chlamydia more than once but it could just be that it hasn't responded to the antibiotics. If they give you more then it is just so important to religiously take the tablets!

I had PID earlier this year, despite having had a clear STI screen and everything (as well as my OH, so it might've been a dodgy diagnosis!). I panicked when I found out about the fertility impact, but it isn't as bad as they make it out! I spoke to the gynae nurses in my hospital and they said it will only make a permanent effect if you have had PID for years and recurrently without treating it. The permanent effect that it can have is scarring in the fallopian tubes, and that kind of pain would take a while to set into effect, and would be exceptionally noticeable.

I know exactly how terrifying it is to worry about catching something terrible to ffect your fertility, but try not to panic yourself too much. If it is PID then they can treat it quite easily. Even if you have got it, it is not highly likely to have affected both ovaries/fallopian tubes, and there is always hope and treatment that can help the long term fertility effects.

The worst thing I found about PID is the treatment - the antibiotics made me very sick. But that's the worst part :hugs:

Good luck on Wednesday :hugs: pm me if you need any support xx
