Hiya. Has anyone ever experienced 5 days or more of positive opk's? My first positive was last Wednesday (CD16). It's now CD20 and I got my 5th positive. I know people say not to keep testing after the first positive, but I was curious.

I use the ClearBlue Digitial OPK so that means it's a definite smile face consistently. Can anyone help me? :nope: I'm so frustrated.

I answered on the other thread so I will just paste my answer here aswell, bit of a lazy typer! hehe
You havnt got PCOS have you? You can get multiple +opks with that. If not it could just be your body is gearing up but not actually ovulating for some reason, that happens as well.

No PCOS. Was just at the dr's last month and he said I looked good and pap came back normal.

I got off the pill back in November and have been taking Provera for 10 days at a time for the past 2 months, but his nurse said that wouldn't affect opk results.

So you can see why I'm lost.

Hi Stace

You sure you're not Preggars?? OPK's also can detect pregnancy and 5+days of positive OPK might be detecting your HCG... do a Preg test and see!!

For info on how OPK will also show a pregnancy see:

Thanks, Kat. Yeah, I did a peestick HPT this morning and got a BFN. I know it wouldn't have been from last month and thought it'd be too early this month since it's only been 5 days since the first + OPK. I didn't think it would pick it up from this month that soon.

I can only hope it's still too soon and that it's the case, but I'm just nervous as to why it's happening. Maybe I'll try another tomorrow, but I really don't know what to do at this point.

It woud be very unlikley for an opk to be picking up hcg at this stage and showing a +, it would be only 5dpo at most if O time was 12 hours after the first and implantion would have only just started at this stage. You body can just surge and not ovulate, could just be your hormones are out of wack this cycle from the provera and will settle in a bit. Provera is progesterone basically so it could have put a bit of a kink in the O process.

Oh ok in that case yes I think WannaB is right on the money and your body is surging to get that eggy released.

Its funny because we wait and wait for the +OPK but stress out when it doesn't go away.....

Keep BDing and good luck xox

Well, I really hope the egg does release if it hasn't yet. DH is getting really confused as to why I keep getting smiley face results as well. He's a good listener from when I told him how OPKs work from before so if I'm confused, it's more confusing to explain to a guy. Plus, we never know when to stop BDing...Not that we stop, but you know, not go as crazy over it because of the pos OPKs.

Maybe I should call my dr because if it IS a problem with just constant surging and no Oing, I want to see how we can correct that asap. We want to conceive so badly (just like everyone on here, of course).

Well, thanks for all the help, ladies... I was just hoping also maybe someone else here could relate and give me their experience for an idea.

yes maybe talk to your Dr to put your mind at rest..... Doctors know so much more about these things... Unless you have a faulty batch of tests? Sorry I couldn't be more help. My DH is good like that too. I show him the smiley faces too. And I had to show him a non smiley to show the difference.

It's definitely not a faulty batch because the week before I got the positives, I had negatives. Additionally, I still use the internet pee sticks as confirmation because I have so many of them. I also took one too early yesterday and got a negative and then later at my usual time and got a positive so I'm sure there isn't a problem with the digital OPK - it's probably me with the problem!

I get between 2 and 7 postivie OPKs every cycle. This time I decided to save my money and I stopped after the first positive. I think it is normal (not that I am normal )

haha 2016. I think after awhile with all the stress and confusion that comes with TTC, I think almost anyone can become unhinged or not so normal. I know I'm not normal, either. haha

It is comforting to know I'm not some type of alien weirdo though that's getting these long positive streaks. Are you finding that you're ovulating each time when you'd get them?

It's like I wanna stop to save money, but then I'm curious if the next one will be positive; especially after 5 days. It's like a drug!

Lots of babydust to you, though!

Have you thought about doing bbt Stace? It will confirm if you ovulate or not and saves you from the continual testing waiting for that negative.

Yep, I thought about doing it and did it for a little bit, but it's just hard for me because most times I am up through the whole night and if I do sleep, I don't get a full night's sleep/wake at different times so it wasn't very accurate. I could never be consistent with it.:nope:

CD21 - 6th day of positive OPK. Called my doctor's office, but the nurse was off today and my dr was in delivery so they forwarded my concern to him to call me tomorrow. AHHH, I hate being left in suspense; especially about something like this.

Would you guys keep BDing at this point, 6 days into positive OPKs??? I guess it can't hurt to try, but it sure is exhausting!

Oh and I checked my CM and it was white, thick creamy...then there was something stringy in it..SO confusing.

I am glad someone else has this problem... I stopped testing after 7 pos. opk's last month. I bought a 20 pack and I got the surge so late in my cycle that I had used all but 7 of them when I did get an opk and I kept testing and I had continuous positives...I am confused! I wanted to call my doc. today to ask, but I am a teacher and didn't get a chance today. Lemme know what your doctor says I am curious.

We're on the same boat! Now I have 6 OPKs left. I also bought the 20 pack. Did you use ClearBlue digital? I hear so many things as to why it can stay positive so I feel lost on what to do. I guess we have to keep BDing...

Did you end up getting AF after all those positives?

I used First Response with the lines, but when they became positive they were clearly positive the test line was and stayed 100% darker than the control line. I did end up getting AF after all those positives, but I also quit BDing because I started way before the 100% pos...when I thought some of the others might be close to positive and DH got sick a couple days after the 100% positive, so I am trying again. I also took clomid this cycle, so I dunno if that had something to do with my many positives or not...guess we'll just have to wait and see what the doctor says. GL and I will let you know what I find out. Hope that wasn't too confusing lol.

bbdreams, you made COMPLETE sense! Thanks for relating to me! I mean, as frustrating as it is, it's good to know I'm not an alien. haha

Well, I'm not on Clomid, but have been taking Provera. This is my second month on it and today is day 6 of 10 pills. I was told that won't affect the OPK results, though. I think Clomid might give falsies, though.

But I wonder if you just kept BDing last month, if you woulda had a chance to get pg.

Today was the first time both lines on the OPK were equally as dark as each other (I always look at the lines even though it has the digital smiley face). Also hope this isn't TMI, but today I had thick, white creamy CM, but inside it was something stringy. I am so so lost.

When my doctor calls me back, I'll be sure to keep you updated and please definitely do likewise! xxx
