Hey :) This is going to be long, please forgive me!

I've had trouble for a few years with lots of spotting between periods...spotting a few days before and after AF, and around ovulation. My GP thought it was low progesterone. This was before TTC my daughter.

A couple of weeks ago I went to see my GP again as since getting my AF back at 7 months pp, it's been the same and getting worse. I've had a copper coil in since 3.5 months pp, and I know that can cause heavier bleeding but I was prepared to deal with that as I really don't want hormonal contraception. I was prescribed mefenamic acid which I took during AF, and it seemed to stem the heavy bleeding.

But I'm on CD12 now and I still haven't stopped spotting. It's heavy spotting too...not quite light flow but not just the odd bit, either.

I had a smear about 8 months ago, which was clear, and have actually never had an abnormal smear. I've been with my husband 12 years and we have been completely faithful to each other so no danger of it being an STI or anything like that.

Does anyone have any experience similar, and what was the outcome? I'm 34 and still planning to have another baby in 3 or so years, so I'm hoping it's not my hormones starting to wind down already!

Could it be possible you have a polyp on your cervix? I know polyps can cause spotting between periods and they are easily removed.

Hi Tink, it's possible but I don't think likely - nothing was mentioned at coil insertion or smear.

I've now got tranexamic acid in addition to the mefenamic, so will see if that helps over the next 2 cycles...if not, I'll be swapping the copper coil for a mirena!

Hi hun! The mirena might not be any better , I've been bleeding for the last 7weeks with the mirena coil:cry: hope you find a solution soon!

Oh no! I hope it stops soon for you! I was on cerazette about 8 years ago, and the first 5-6 months of that I had pretty constant light spotting, then absolutely nothing for the remainder of the 2 years I took it. I got AF back 30 days after taking my last pill. Even if the mirena is like that, I'll take it, this is driving me insane! I got to CD15 this cycle before the bleeding stopped. I swear after I'm done having babies I'm asking for an endometrial ablation!

I was on cerazette and it stopped my periods altogether but my sex drive was non existent :nope: I have to admit that the bleeding with the coil lessening now, I'm just hoping it stops altogether soon!

Just looked up endemetrial ablation and it sounds scary hope you don't need to resort to those measures.:hugs:
