Hi,

Has anyone else experienced constipation since having bubs? I did a lot of pushing during the birth - 3 hours and really hard pushing, and as a result my bum feels like it is inside out (sorry if tmi!). I had an epesiotomy too, and my bits just are not the same any more. My pelvic floor muscles are non existent and I have real problems with my backside. I just wondered if anyone else had this problem and how long it takes to get better?

I would only share this stuff with you girls!

Thanks:blush:

I didnt do natural birth i had a c-section but i still have problems with constipation , dr advise i add extra fibers in my diet and since doing so its much easier on my bottom lol

I had weetabix for breakfast and supper to help avoid constipation as I had 2 very sore piles after giving birth. The first few days when they were extremely painful I took a spoon of castor oil in the morning to soften things even more.

Oh my God girl, I had utterly horrendous constipation after vaginal birth. I had suppositories about three days after birth, then it happened 3 more times. I felt like I was going to prolapse when I went for a poo. It was horrid!! I upped my fibre and water intake and took dulcolax (but i bottle feed) and lactulose (make sure you drink LOADS of water if you take this). My bowels are only just working now!

I also had 3 hours of pushing and a 3rd degree tear. But they sent me home with Lactulose and fibregel. Now I just take benefibre. If you take a supplement like this, it makes you stools a lot more bulky and soft. Much nicer when you have piles! Also, use tonnes of Anusol, this helps to shrink the piles and eases the pain. I've been doing my pelvis floor excercises like a woman deranged and the muscle tone is coming back now. Every time Oliver feeds I do my excercises - I do it without thinking now!
Hope you feel better soon - let us know how you get on!!

Yep try more fibre but if that doesnt work go and get a blood test for low thyroid. I had the same thing and it so was horrible when I went to the toilet I wanted to scream in agony. I told the doctor and doc said it was normal after giving birth but no consipation medication worked. Then I started getting a goiter and then they tested my thyroid. Dont wait as long as I did.
