Omg the PAIN!
I suffered with it last pregnancy right up until even when i was in labour which made it hard for my baby to drop. I had to poop during labour and gave birth about 15 minutes later. ( after having him sit there waiting to escape. And its also the 1st labour i pooped during the pushing stage as well  my other kids i had massive clear outs days before and the day of, so there was no poo left.
Im already suffering constipation and it's so painful.
What can i do? Prunes down work for me.
Can i do anything when I'm in labour to make myself go if im constipated again during labour?
Sorry about the tmi!

Whenever I get backed up I drink Therapeutic Medicinal tea called Smooth Move :haha: It really works within like 15 min or so I have to go. Not sure what they have down under but try looking into different herbal remedies that might work also eating lots of fresh fruit and drinking tons of water!!

TMI I had four BM's in the last 24 hours and I think part of it had to do with being on a train rocking me around getting things moving in there lol

My midwife gave me lactulose . It does help , I suffer really bad from constipation and get the worst cramps . Try flax seeds from Holland and Barrett or a health shop , sprinkle on your cereal and that also helps get things moving . The joys of pregnancy lol x

Camomile tea works for me, I drink 2 cups a day. Not sure how you feel about butter milk, but that help too lol

I'm so glad someone asked this, I'm going to try those teas. Colace has helped me a little bit but I really don't like taking medicine, even though they tell me it's safe. I tried prunes and all I got was a bunch of trapped gas at the bottom of my ribs, it was AWFUL!!!

strangely enough, try taking a bath with epsom salts. i don't know why, but it always works. i'm the "poo pro" - lol! i have crohn's disease, and for years have either had severe diarrhea or severe constipation. i swear by the epsom salt bath!

Melon usually works for me, I have IBS and when I'm constipated really bad I eat yellow melon. I usually go within a few hours. Btw not just a little slice, I usually end up eating nearly the full melon lol but maybe thats just because I love it.

Doctor reccomended Restoralax. Its a gentle laxative that just draws water into your stools to make them easier to pass.

I am suffering from this right now. It is the middle of the night and the reason I woke up. LOL

I've been reading about milk of magnesia as well. I have never had this issue before, so I am so unsure of what to try. :/

Me too! I didn't want to post but I went six days without a poo! So uncomfortable. I finally sat down and ate a bunch of bran bars, chased it with melon and half a gallon of water and I feel better... that was this morning but I only went once and now I'm back to feeling bloated I did fart a bit so that is a good sign. I'm going to the natural grocery store to look for fiber vitamins think I should add them in. I have never been constipated before the first time a few weeks ago I didn't even recognize what was wrong.

Sara, I have been very regular the past week or so. Usually I will go 1x a day for a few days then stop, then go. The only thing I've added to my diet is Eating fruit and drinking water first thing in the AM.

Water! Will stimulate your digestive system so if you can, drink as much water as you can before you eat. Or if that makes you sick like I did for a while then drink as much as you can as you eat and after. Even just little sips, it will help xx

I will have a full glass of water and eat two clementines ( have 2-4 a day), one banana and or an apple first thing when I wake up. Then I can have cereal, sandwiches, etc.
Don't really eat much greens but I try to get in as many RAW veggies and fruit as possible (but it's not as much as I would ideally like to eat) throughout the day.

Hope you find relief!

Hi Misscalais,

You should try this Digestic. It is an herbal supplement intended for constipation problems. My wife also has the same problem with yours, but after using this one, she felt relieved and relaxed.
