Hello everyone :) I just got my bfp today, and have been taking Vitex & fertilaid (switching them) and have read different things on the internet. I have low progesterone due to high prolactin, but it seems to be okay at the moment (very bad constipation lol TMI). I know vitex raises progesterone so I'm worried that if I stop it, my progesterone will fall. I do have progesterone cream that I use on and off. What do you girls think? Continue vitex until 2nd tri, or stop taking it? Any input or opinions welcome :) Thanks! x

I can't tell you what to do as there haven't been enough studies done for anyone to know what is safest.
However, I stopped taking Vitex the day I found out I was pregnant three weeks ago. Luckily it was the last pill in my bottle, so no wastage! Bubby's still hanging in there...

Great timing lol!! Thanks :) I have been thinking about weaning off until about 8 weeks after the first scan, but continue with the progesterone cream to 12 weeks unless my ob advises otherwise. I'm not sure yet.. Congratulations btw :) x

I was paranoid afte having a loss in December then getting pregnant in January. I took my vitex whenever I felt I needed it... If I was having cramping or was nervous. I even had some spotting this pregnancy and every time I noticed it I took a vitex that day and the next day.
I don't know if it helped but baby is still there and doing wonderfully.
I did tonnes of research and general concensus is that it's ok up to 13 weeks.

Thanks! Glad to hear baby is okay! I'll probably continue to at least 8 weeks, may continue on to 12. Congratulations on your bfp :) x

Huh I was under the impression it really wasn't good when you are already pregnant. I assume you'll be talking with the ob to find out what they want you to do? Either way, congrats and good luck! Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!

Congrats on ur PG Taylor hope u have a sticky bean in there:)

From what I understood fertile aid and vitex should be stopped when u become pregnant.
I'm no doctor but I believe the bottle says so itself:shrug:

If ur progesterone is low how come they haven't put you on suppositories or something?

Yes I will, I said in a previous comment I will continue/discontinue depending on what he advises :) I'm seeing my GP tomorrow to do a simple blood test, then I will see my OB next week. I just wanted to know what everyone else has done and if I should continue at least until I see him. Thanks :) x

Thank you :)! I've read different things about it, that's why I am confused about what to do... I'm thinking about weaning off Vitex until I talk to my OB but continue using the cream. What do you think?

My GP didn't want to prescribe anything, one because it usually isn't too low, and it goes up and down due to my prolactin levels also going up and down, so he didn't think I needed suppositories but maybe a prescription. Two, it's not his "specialty" lol, IDK that's just what he said. I don't think he was comfortable prescribing anything yet. He may change his mind tomorrow though. He's a small town doctor that owns his own practice. He doesn't deal much with pregnancy/TTC. I bought progesterone cream two months ago though just in case :) x

Stop when you become pregnant and ask your doctor for progesterone. GL!

I stopped taking it as soon as I discovered I was pregnant, I was a little nervous tbh but thankfully things have been going great so far, Yayy :happydance:

Congrats on your BFP x

So glad things are going great :) Congratulations on your bfp as well :hugs: x

I have continued it until yesterday when I turned 7 weeks. I was taking a tincture, so I weaned myself off it.
But yes, 7 weeks was my cut off time for me, while they say it is good to prevent miscarriages, I felt that at this stage, I don't want to take anything that may affect my hormone levels.

Thanks, that's what I kept reading that it was good to prevent m/c, but I am worried it would affect my hormones TOO much. I'll ask my GP today (even though he probably won't have any idea of what it is lol) and my OB when I see him. Thanks again :) x

Hey there hun (don’t know if you remember me but we talked often last year during ttc) I just wanted to say congrats on your BFP!!!! YAY!!!! I am so happy for you!!!

That’s wonderful! I am so glad! I was just thinking the other day about when we had a loooong conversation about checking our Cervixes during TTC:dohh:

I have my fingers crossed that this is your little sticky bean:) I honestly left BnB and wasn’t even thinking about it to the point that I didn’t know I was pregnant until I was like 4-5 weeks already:)

Congrats again new mama!! H&H 9 months to you as well. I will be stalking you to see how you are getting along:happydance:

LMAO oh the joys of ttc... I'm sure the joys of pregnancies can be just as strange if not worse :haha:

Thanks! I haven't been on BNB much the past 2-3 months either.. maybe the stress of ttc on BNB made it harder? Let me know how you get on and how the baby is :) Are you finding out the gender? If so, when? Must be pretty soon! :) Thanks again girl, :hugs: x

GP won't even know... actually I saw a gyno and he had no idea what that is. lol
I studied naturopathic medicine, so I am quite familiar with these herbs and minerals. Truthfully, anytime between 7-10 weeks is a safe time to stop it and yes, it does help preventing MCs.
